From 'A Process of Reclamation' An ongoing series investigating Natures reclaiming of the Slate Quarries of the English Lake district.
This was taken last summer in North Iceland. I needed to look at images that remind me, after a long and difficult winter, that summer is again just around the corner.
Mamiya 645, FP4+ in Pyrocat HD. Printed on Fomabrom, developed in Adox WT and toned in Moersch MT3 and gold toner.
Photographed December 2017 / Ricoh 500 vintage rangefinder with RIKEN RICOMAT 4.5cm/2.8 lens. Rollei RPX 400 rated ASA 320 developed in Pyrocat-HD. Negative 'scanned' to SD card in a JUMBL scanner unit, image processed & finished in Flickr. Cropped 16:9 from 4:3.

Photographs made while exploring and documenting Ohio’s State Nature Preserve system. Some of the only places left in the state where nature remains uninterrupted. These lands are underappreciated, underfunded, but rich with a subtle beauty that I revere with my view camera.

Photographed September 2017 / FED-2 rangefinder & Jupiter-8, 50mm/2 lens (1952 vintage). FOMA RETRO 320 soft rated ASA 320 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 6min 20sec, 20*C). Negative was scanned to digital (SD card) in a JUMBL scanner ; the image was then processed & finished in Flickr.

Photographed June 2020 / Rolleiflex 4cmx4cm TLR (Rolleiflex Baby) 127 format film camera with Csrl Zeiss Jena Tessar 6cm/3.5 lens. Film used was ILFORD HP5+ 120 roll film cut and re-spooled to 127 format: metered ASA 200 developed in PYROCAT-HD (3.3ml A + 33ml B > 400ml, 7min, 20*C). The negative was illuminated on a light panel and scanned with a Pentax k3 DSLR and Rodenstock RODAGON 60mm/4 enlarging lens on a helicoid extension tube. The image was edited on an iPad mini using the Snap Seed application: full frame scan of entire negative area without trimming.
Good to see new growth appearing the days are lengthening nicely won't be long before the 100iso gets dusted off. I have a stash of Acros100 I found at a good price, itching to use it.
Photographed August 2017 / Kodak 2c Autographic with Kodak Anastigmat 152mm/7.7 lens. Camera converted to transport 120 film (originally 130 format). ILFORD 3200 DELTA rated ASA 1000 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600ml, 9min, 20*C). Negative was illuminated on a light box and scanned with an iPad mini using Film Scanner app. Image processed in Flickr. A lens hood would have helped reduce flare.

See what happens when you change apertures between shots? Reality melts. However - Photoshop never ceases to amaze how it easily corrects all my flaws as a multi-format film cheater! 😆

FOMAPAN 400 rated ASA 320 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5mlA + 25mlB, 7min 40sec, 20*C).Negative was laid flat on a light table and 'scanned' with an iPad mini using FilmScanner app. Image was then 'processed' in Flickr.

Photographed May 2024 / Kodak BANTAM RF 82i8 Format 35mm film camera with Kodak Ektanon 50mm/3.9 lens. The film was FOMAPAN 400 non-perforated bulk stock metered ASA 125 and developed in glycol version PYROCAT-HD. The negative was digitalised via a PENTAX k3 DSLR and the image rendered on an iPad 9th Generation using the Snapseed application: full frame scan of entire negative area without trimming.

Photographed November 2018 / Rolleicord III TLR with Carl Zeiss Jena 🔺T coated Triotar 7.5cm/3.8 lens. The film was ILFORD DELTA PRO 3200 metered ASA 800 developed in sodium carbonate PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 50ml B > 600ml, 8min, 20*C). Negative was digitalised with a Pentax k3 DSLR carrying a EL-NIKKOR 63mm/2.8 enlarging lens on a helicoid adjustable length extension tube. The image was edited on an iPad mini using the Snap-Seed application. No problem with sharpness from this three element Cooke Triplet type lens...check out the filigree resolution of the tree twigs and the magpie sitting on the castle wall turret.
I particularly like the shadows on the left. The negative is actually longer than this but this composition is adequate. Aviphot in Pyrocat, 5" roll film

Sodium carbonate version (5ml A + 50ml B > 600ml, 8min @ 20*C). Negative was back lit on a light box and 'scanned' with an iPad mini using the Film Scanner app. A medium grey, zone V reference negative was used to derive correct scanning exposure. Image was processed & finished in Flickr.
