I just liked the lamp sticking out, but had to decide where in the frame to place it. I took three frames, as usual first look was best (IMHO).

Actually a spot where it was unlikely to be functional for quite a lot of the day but we faked a time reading with an i-phone light !!

The 2005 version of the Nikkor 35mm f1.8 is a pretty damned good lens. Out of focus areas are a bit flary though. Resolution is very good.

Yes, the Salt Point tafoni formations can get pretty alien and the exact method of creation is still under debate; but mostly you need sandstone, salt water and a lot of time. The world is more than any one of us can know, I'm glad there will always be mystery...

The bench looks rather mottled, it was festooned in lichen.

This area is renowned for the lichen: "Many of the lichens, mosses and liverworts that are found in these rainforests are very rare in Europe, and some are globally important."

He is loosing the race slowly but surely, the ivy will have him this year I think.

Although 35mm is my preferred focal length on the Leicas and Nikons for some reason I go to 100m on the Hsselblad, probably because that lens is just superb. Most of these at f4 or f5.6 to get some shutter speed, the shutter may be vibration free, almost, but that mirror certainly isn't.

Just waiting for a passing Centurion I suppose. Could be a long wait.
