Stratford has maintained a Grand Trunk maintenance yard since 1873; the local myth goes that the manager of Locomotive maintenance, upon meeting the city's mayor, fell for the mayor's daughter and was later married. The massive 19-acre yard quickly became the largest Grand Trunk Yard with maintenance shops, storage shed, shops, and a roundhouse. These were further expanded in 1889 when equipment and employees were moved from former Great Western Shops in Hamilton and Brantford. By 1909 in need to update much of the ageing infrastructure, a massive new shop was completed in Stratford; these shops had close to 200,000 square feet and featured state-of-the-art equipment. The shops continued under Canadian National in 1923 and became the largest in Canada. They were the final shops to service the tourist trains of the 1960s before the final shutdown in 1964, unable to change to support new diesel locomotives. They operated briefly as a private business but have been sitting abandoned ever since.

I didn't take the 15mm finder, I may on the next trip but I'm always aware of loss, with that lens you can always crop later just point and shoot. I may need to look into the 12mm or the 10mm but they are rather a lot more for what is an occasional use and the 15mm is so light it's never a burden to have JIC (just in case).

Spin and grab shot before someone walked though it and spoiled the effect.
