Two weeks down, and plenty more to go in the new One-A-Day project. Excitement toward shooting x-ray film is still high, and this week I'm going to keep exploring the response of this film in both super high and super low contrast scenarios.
Just after a late afternoon's rain over at my parent's house in Deshler, OH, I decided it was time to bring out the 8x10 for a quick shot in their backyard. It was still very overcast outside, making for an exposure with a severely high contrast range. Was x-ray film up to the challenge? This stuff definitely doesn't respond like Kodak Tmax films, but it handled the job none-the-less!
Somewhat insane side-note, but my parent's German shepherd, Maizey, stayed pretty still considering the length of this exposure. Perhaps I have a new wet plate subject? ;)

Revisited some frames from Mini World last year, got a new workflow so that I only end up saving the final version to JPEG and do all the work before hand in NEF and PSD files with Lightroom and Photoshop. The benefits of this being much cleaner folders and generally a much safer way of working, there will also be less JPEG compression - not that it makes an ounce off difference to my work!

Would've been great to see it on track but it wasn't ready!

Decided to pull back the Arista to 200 so the grain didn't pull so much of the detail away, worked out alright!

Been away for sometime doing a PC rebuild, reinstalling and transferring my data, but I think I'm in the clear and will get back to normality soon enough, and hopefully get my darkroom up and running more often too!

When you're in a very inspiring area such as the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, it's actually a challenge to limit one's self with a set number of photos. Every rock you step over or tree you pass shares something unique. Having already walked two miles with the 55lb. 8x10 setup, I was starting to tire, but couldn't head back without first grabbing a few more shots. This one was going to be challenging, b/c I just had to have some detail in the rocks leading up the trail (even at the cost of flaring/nuked highlights).
