After developing my first roll of E6 I noticed that at the guided temp and process timings my images were incredibly over exposed so i decided to pull the process by about 25% and the results are so much better this image is straight from the scan no tweaks or tricks merely just cropped in Photoshop as my Kiev has the classic framing issue.

The Film Photography Podcast 2012 New York City Meetup was an absolute blast! As you can see, we had plenty of eager film shooters show up, all of which brought some cool cameras, and unique points of view with them. While setting up this group shot, my mind must have been off in la-la-land when I was doing the metering for this shot. I ended up overexposing by some ridiculous amount, ~5 stops! Did my best to save it by pulling it 2 stops in processing, which may leave color shifts in very small areas, but this just goes to show the insane latitude of Kodak color negative films!

Seen over somebody’s front wall, a decorative winter scene comprising several quaint ornaments and vast quantities of cotton wool, along with an old Christmas tree which seems to be shedding both needles and tinsel. I’m sure it was once a charming display, but now it’s definitely looking past its best.

Fire station with half moon.
A weak composition, in which none of the key elements align satisfactorily, but I was anxious not to lose the setting moon, nor to gain much more daylight. In the moment, the clear sky, the crisp morning air and the half moon combined to give a magical feeling, and yet this rushed picture does no justice to the experience. A real shame.

Rudolph the No-Nosed Reindeer. I found a squished berry on the pavement immediately in front of him, but if this used to be his sniffer there was no way of telling whether it was deliberately plucked out by a passing vandal or merely fell off as he started to melt.

After yesterday’s reminder that foreign travel won’t be a thing again for the next who-knows-how-long, maybe it’s time I started actually celebrating my home town, instead of just feeling like I’m stuck here because of the pandemic.
I’d already been meaning to photograph this sign for ages anyway, but then it turned out that today would’ve been Alan Sillitoe’s birthday, so...

i accidentally exposed a roll of Fuji RXP 400X @ 25 ASA (4 stops over), I had to ask my photo lab to make the minimum development of 3 minutes to save the roll. The images turned out blue and lack of contrast, but the highlights aren't blown out at least. View On Black

One week in lockdown.
(New challenges require new approaches: for the duration of my time off work, and with my horizons severely limited, I’ve decided to experiment with shooting and presenting pairs of images, instead of the usual single frames. The results might not turn out to be anything special, but there’s got to be something worthwhile in the process.)

A response to the art of a friend.
Taken during a visit to Grace Eden’s Glowing Older, a commission from The Renewal Trust, during its exhibition at St Peter’s Church. The models are for the most part local people in their sixties, seventies and eighties, photographed in locations significant to their everyday lives, often with props and/or costumes with a personal resonance, and the resulting portraits are presented in a style reminiscent of the pre-Raphaelite painters, with the intention of celebrating the often-overlooked beauty of the ageing process.
It amused me that the exhibition space itself should happen to reflect some of the themes of the commission: in the stained glass windows can be seen the words, “Remember the dead. Fight for the living.” Or could be, had the too-great contrast between the dim church interior and the bright sky outside not resulted in an area of negative so dense as to scarcely hold any burnable detail... and just where I needed it! Ho-hum.

very busy times! i have half a roll sitting in my camera that i just couldn't finish this weekend. i hate starting the week without the lovely promise and possibility offered by an undeveloped roll of film.
Listen, I know that Boris is advising us not to look for ways to bend the current rules, but if you really want to meet a friend for a coffee and a chat INDOORS then you CAN do so LEGALLY by booking yourselves contemporaneous appointments to give blood at your local Donor Centre, which is classed as essential travel, and is permitted as often as once every three months.
Fuck the system, give blood.
