Somehow I receive so much color this week. Today my friend brought these lovely orange tulips. I fell in love with the purple wrap though.

A welcomed splash of colour on my patio area. I love the vividness of colour. I have edited it using the Snapseed app which really is a brilliant quick and easy way to jazz up you images. I also use it on my SLR images when on holiday.

#9 - 2021 Scribbles and Drabbles

Four-strand copper and bead necklace; three images: the full necklace, detail of the carved bone separators, and detail of the lower two center elements.

I grew up listening to The Beatles so they will of course always have a place in my heart.

This is my response to the other prompt from Episode 39...the one on a familiar song. I chose to do it on "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" because it's part of our bedtime ritual with Nathen.

The funny thing is, I was already planning to do something with this. I was thinking collage, but this will certainly suffice. ;)

My library is not prompting for comments ... we'll have to change that!

The last week Eric & I have been very busy with the renovation house. Officially it is too late to post a "passage" photo. However, this pile of doorways caught my eye this weekend. This pile seems very appropriate for the prompt and I have only posted passage photo's from my archive so I wanted to give you a fresh one.

Inspired by One Year in the Life of an Art Journal Prompt. We got to choose between love, silhouettes and the song

I included all 3.

The background is several pages of text each painted a different color, torn and mod podged to the book I'm altering.

This is my response to one of the creative prompts from Episode 39...the one on those that are no longer with us. This is a sketch of a Cocker Spaniel I had many years ago. Her name was Sarah and she is solely responsible for the incredible love that I have for the breed today. Her life ended very tragically (not nearly as peacefully as I wanted it to) and she will always be missed, even though I now have two Cocker Spaniels in my home. No dog could ever replace her.

I have only one small, very poor photo of her. I thought I could draw instead and I feel this turned out very well. It almost brings tears to my eyes.

From January 12, 2023: this week I’ve been reflecting on some the #jobs I’ve had as part of the @rachelastorauthor #prompts I’m doing from her @dailyom course, WRITING TO UNCOVER THE AUTHENTIC SELF. Today, I’m continuing exploring some of the #jobs I had as a #teen.

One particular job I ended up doing at @semiahmoosecondary was helping one of the librarians during my grade ten year in organizing displays in half a dozen cases located all over the campus. And when she left to teach at another school, it was a project I continued doing during grades 11 & 12, & even for a year or two after I graduated. In grade 12, I was able to do the displays for credit in my art class, the only caveats being I had to document the displays & reflect on them.

There were also several unused display cases which I brought back to life & at the height of this, I was rotating somewhere between eight to a dozen cases with new displays every 2-3 weeks.

Topics involved things I found interesting: current events; holidays and their histories; as well as arts & entertainment in terms of popular culture, music, television, and movies including the histories of those areas. If I could, I’d try to make them interactive, placing a small combo television-vcr in the cases or having a CD player inside to add clips or sounds. I remember with an academy awards display I did annually, it was in conjunction with a contest held through the library where students would guess who might win that year’s awards.

I remember the creative writing teacher would take his classes down to discuss some of the displays, in particular I remember them gathered around a display about filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock. I’d usually do these displays in the evenings, after school, from 3pm until the facilities staff closed up around 10-11pm. Sometimes, I’d be up later, typing up info onto pages that I’d print at home. I used props and I had a small budget approved by the principal and when I came back after graduating, I got a small honorarium.

It was fun, it was something I could do on my own, providing me with an escape from having been bullied so much during grades 7, 8, & 9. I loved that job.

Prompt 25: what's in my bag?

#48 - 2021 Scribbles and Drabbles

Four hand made Norse-Celtic style copper bracelets, one strung with 9 small copper rings.

Lovin' these Illinois skies lately!! Taken as the sun was setting on one fine day.

A work related stay in Copenhagen. I had a couple of hours and got caught up with colours and bright spring light.

A waterfall on South 12th St., Quincy, IL.

Prompt: Your chatting with me under the sky makes me always smiling.

Some of my favorite childhood memories are from nights under the stars. One friend had a birthday in August that always seems to coincide with the meteor showers. We would take our sleeping bags out under the stars & just take in the beauty. I remember sitting at the lake at our grandparents house with my Aunt as she showed me all the constellations that she knew. Summer 6 years ago in Crested Butte, no city lights, so many satellites & shooting stars. Lots of smiles come to mind when I think of summer nights. Hope to share some of those smiles with my daughter this summer.
