“True Dragons are among the Universe's most perfect beings. This is a useful bit of information. Squirrel it away like a nugget of Fafnir's gold; take it out and burnish it now and then as we proceed.”
― Shawn MacKenzie, The Dragon Keeper's Handbook

“Chinese restaurants seem to be able to stuff a square meter of noodles into a tiny to-go box. If you had that same packing power, what would you cram into your pockets, and why would it be 33 ducks?”
― Jarod Kintz, Music is fluid, and my saxophone overflows when my ducks slosh in the sounds I make in elevators.
#DoodlewashFebruary2023 prompt: Castle. A man’s home is his castle, which gave me the excuse to paint this Citroen Duck. Did you know that Citroen hid or destroyed all of their C2V to keep them from the Nazis during WWII? For some reason the scanner picked up the purple and really made it stand out -- -- it's not like that in the actual painting.

Guy: Did you see the sneakers on that last robber?
Buddy: The 2:30?
Guy: No, the four o'clock. The three-quarter high-top, gorgeous foam soles. I could barely feel it when he stepped on my face.

“Yael wanted to be like the Valkyrie maidens in the old Norse lore. Winged women who rode to war on the backs of wolves, choosing which soldiers lived and died. She'd thought she could make death mean something, if she wielded it right”

“An hour seldom passed in which she didn’t either sneeze, pick her nose, or wipe a bogie onto her snot-encrusted sleeve. But she had such a lovely colour. That pink glow which comes with the flu used to engulf her like an aura. It suited her. She always looked so damn effervescent.”

“You let your grief make you bitter. You let your suffering make you cruel. Want to know what that makes you? A villain. That's every comic book villain ever! They suffer, and then they inflict suffering on others. Good guys do the opposite. Good guys suffer, too - but they respond by helping.”

#WorldWatercolorMonth2023 prompt: Sunlit.
Did you know the Blue Ridge Mountains are believed to be the second oldest mountain range in the entire world?
For #WorldWatercolorMonth, most of my prompt paintings will be examples I’ve done in reviews., but I decided the rest of the prompts will be inspired by Eyvind Earle. You may not know his name, but you’ve seen his work & influence if you’ve watched Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. This painting of the Blue Ridge mountains is my attempt to recreate something similar to the pointings he did on his 3,000+ bicycle journey across the U.S.

“Ladies should also remember that gentlemen look more to the effect of a dress in setting off the figure and countenance of a lady than to its cost. Very few gentlemen have any idea the value of ladies' dresses. This is a subject for female criticism. Beauty of person and elegance of manners in women will always command more admiration from the opposite sex than beauty, elegance or costliness of clothing."

Fry: It really puts you in the Christmas mood.
Professor Farnsworth: What-mas?
Fry: Christmas! You know, X-M-A-S.
Leela: Oh, you mean "Xmas!" You must be using an archaic pronunciation, like when you say "ask" instead of "axe."

“I like its eyes: two black dots, nonreflective light-trappers. Utterly determined eyes, doubt-free, unselfconscious. Frightening eyes if they happen to be looking at you and you’re small enough to be dinner. The same eyes a man probably sees on an alligator before it drags him down and shakes the air out of his lungs and leaves him to rot a little in the murk, to be tenderized properly before he becomes a meal.”
