Vine has had really long hair as long as I can remember. This year though he had it cut shoulder length and layered... which prompted us all to instantly change our personal cell ringtones for him to a Bon Jovi song since that's who he reminds us of now.
Bon Jovi's "It's my life" plays on my cellphone.
Doc: Vine calling?
We all instantly know.. though it wasn't a planned thing. That's how alike we all are.
Also.. I'd once more like to go on the record declaring I have the most gorgeous friends in the world.

Unexpected results using the Latin name (Desmodus rotundus) for the common vampire bat. rotundus is round in Latin so that probably explains the circular results.

Today's photo prompt word is 'fat'. So I chose the fattest book in the house. It's the old family bible that my nanny asked us to look after when they moved to Spain. The date inside is January 25th 1880. It's written on a note by my great great great grandfather. It's usually kept wrapped up in a cupboard because it's so old!
Gaiety Theatre, Douglas, Isle of Man
The Gaiety Theatre and Opera House is a theatre in Douglas, Isle of Man which together with the Villa Marina forms the VillaGaiety complex. The Gaiety is situated on Douglas promenade, overlooking the sea and adjacent to the Villa Gardens, Arcade and Butts.
Built in 1899 to the designs of architect Frank Matcham as an opera house and theatre, the Gaiety, along with the nearby Villa Marina, stands on the site of a lodge occupied in the early 19th century by Castle Mona architect and Atholl family retainer George Steuart, and then later bought by benefactor Henry Bloom Noble and donated for recreational use. I'm standing on the bluffs at the east end of the West Bottoms, not far from downtown Kansas City, MO, looking westward. You can see Kansas City, KS off in the distance.
This is a very desolate area; once (see below) it was the hub of commerce for the various little communities and towns that eventually became Kansas City, Missouri. There's a concert and sports arena (Kemper), but it fell into disfavor, years ago. I think that the only big event that is still held down around the West Bottoms is the American Royal, which is an elite set of equestrian events.
Information about the history of Kansas City's stockyards and West Bottoms area:
"The West Bottoms was originally referred to as the “French Bottoms”. It was the site of trade between French trappers and Kansas Indians. The area was established by the trappers as an area of commerce. The West Bottoms became the receiving point for goods offloaded from steamships traveling upstream on the Missouri river due in part of the western immigration and trade with Mexico over the Santa Fe Trail. The importance of the area increased with the advent of the railroad. The stockyards (established in 1871) then chose to develop there because of the livestock that came in from the Southwest over the rails. A whole city grew around the stockyards. The Union Depot was built on Union Street where hotels, bars and restaurants flourished. Over 90 percent of the value in Kansas City lay in the West Bottoms. A devastating flood in 1903 ended the investment in housing, schools and churches. However, the agricultural, meat packing, freight and industrial investments continued to grow. By then the rule of thumb was clearly established namely the economic vitality of the city was determined by the economic progress of the West Bottoms."
"The stockyards flourished through the 1940s and at its peak only the Union Stock Yards in Chicago were bigger. During World War II Darby Steel Corporation built most of the Landing Craft Tanks (LCTs) that were used in various amphibious invasions. The plant built one craft a day and floated them more than 1,000 miles down the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers to New Orleans, Louisiana prompting their “Prairie Ships” nickname. Darby’s plant at the mouth of the Kansas River could hold eight 135i LCTs and 16 LCMs (Landing Craft Mechanized) in various stages of development."

Please Welcome our Guest Designer:
My name is Sarah Elliott and I live in Ottawa , Ontario, Canada. I’m mom to 4 boyz ages 12 down to 5 years old. Yes I’m busy, Yes I’m tired… and don’t ask how ‘clean’ my house is. ;O)
I'm also getting married in September 2010, lucky enough to have found love with a longtime high school friend who treats my boyz like his own, he is my missing Soul-Partner. So life is even busier right now, but oh so fun! I often refer to myself as having ADAD (Attention Deficit Art Disorder) as you can see on my blog www.keepsakescrafts.blogspot.com I’m always up to something Art-sy. I call myself a Mixed Media Artist because if I can find some way to craft it... I will. I’m always Re-Using, Re-ducing & Re-decorating. Been creative my whole life, don’t think I could put a ‘date’ on when I started making Art, if my Mum’s right it’d be on the wall about the same time she gave my solid foods.
Besides making a mess daily in my Studio at home: I’m also a Summer lover ‘cause I get to play in the garden, our Summers are way to short. I read lots & lots & lots… usually have 3-4 books on the go at any given time laying all over the house/car. I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to be a regular DT on ARTastic Challenge Blog and am looking so forward to the creative challenges ahead! In short: As you'll see by my page for this Challenge, I lead a Chaos-Driven life full of sh-tuff always going on, but I really wouldn't have it any other way.
I really had fun with this one... I kept meaning to put down my common diatribe about how we lead the PERFECT Sitcom Life. They would have a field day and years & years worth of situations we always seem to be in. I've never played with the features in Picnik... quite addictive. ;O) I was able to able to complete a large part of my LO right at Picnik then print & paste, awesome!
Journaling reads: I often wonder when the networks are going to show up at our door... wanting the rights to our life story for the next Prime Time Sitcom...

Prompt in DALL-E
Enhance the image of a historical book titled "Old Paris - The Seine". The book is open with elaborate and intricate 3D images springing out from the pages, vividly depicting scenes of the Seine in old Paris, with rich details and textures. The emerging images are surrounded by a denser mist, contributing to a mysterious and enchanting atmosphere. The background is dark and moody, contrasting with the bright, lifelike 3D illustrations. The ultra-realistic overall composition is replete with fine details that offer an immersive glimpse into the historical life by the Seine.
January 3, 2023: Today’s prompt from @rachelastorauthor’s @dailyom program, WRITING TO UNCOVER THE AUTHENTIC SELF, asks: “Can you reframe the most pressing #obstacle as a to-do list? In other words, in order to overcome this, what do you need to learn? What tasks do you need to perform? Who do you need to convince?”
I believe I can reframe each of the 4 obstacles I explored over the past few days into more manageable #tasks. But at the same time I know I need to be very consistent at doing this.
For example, I was up past 3am today completing a few loads of #laundry (this included putting the #clothes away after taking them out of the #dryer), a load of #dishes, & also filling up half a #blue #recycling cart from @thecityofsurrey with #recycling from Mum’s garage.
But I still woke to criticism, as my dog looked for the right spot to leap off my bed at the guest room of my Mum’s to head outside at just after 9am. “Your room is a filthy disgrace,” are the words my Mum barked at me today. “And you live like you like it!” It’s odd how her words echo the ones my monkey mind is already so gifted at hurling towards myself.
When we argue & she says things like this, I snap back, “I don’t need you telling me how useless I am because I’m well aware of it already!” As such, both my Mum & my monkey mind are the ones I need to #convince that I am capable of up this mess I’ve created.
I finished my night around 4am taking this selfie inspired by a chapter in @mattzhaig’s book, NOTES ON A NERVOUS PLANET. Specifically, he says: “So this is the attitude to #sleep: something to be suspicious of because it is a time when we are not plugged in, consuming, paying. And this is also our attitude to time: something that mustn’t be wasted simply by resting, being, sleeping. We are ruled by the clock. By the light bulb. By the glowing smartphone. By the insatiable feeling we are encouraged to have. The feeling of this is never enough. Our happiness is just around the corner. A single purchase, or interaction, or click, away. Waiting, glowing, like the light at the end of a tunnel we can never quite reach…. Something has to give.”
This is day 3/365 in my #subverted #selfie #project.

For this prompt I could only imagine how an egg would look like when lightened with a flashlight. Had some fun creating this photo.
This is an egg from our chickens. The second one I used. The kitchen table isn't standing straight because the house is leaning to one side. So I had some difficulty to keep the egg on the table. Finally I managed to position the egg on the table.
Took some shots, had a look at the display on my camera and when I looked through the viewfinder again I searched for the egg but the egg was missing. Imagining that this all happened in total darkness.
I am not sure if I am happy with this photo. The color of the egg and the blue-ish light of the flashlight don't go well together I think. And the egg doesn't look very inviting.
