Spicy Thai-Style Bean Stew With Coconut Milk
Recipe here: but with added tofu and broccoli. Skipped the onion. Severed with a mixture of brown and white rice.
Score. It's not getting one. I was skeptical about the mixture of kidney beans, tomatos and coconut milk. (I'm due to move house soon and this recipe was selected on the criteria that it would mean eating up three tins from the store cupboard. That's three whole tins I don't have to move.) Whilst I was cooking it the sauce tasted great, but in the couple of minutes between my last taste and serving it up it had lost the spicy Thai flavours and was dominated by the tomato and kidney beans. Huge potential, but needs tweaking to get the balance right. Have several portions left so may most score on a tweaked portion two, tomorrow.
Update: an extra table spoon of Thai curry paste has made all the difference. Love the tomatos in it; not sure about the kidney beans. 4/5 with the potential to go higher.
Combining a New Year's resolution with a flickr project 52. Cooking one new recipe per week, and putting a photo of it here. Using the term 'new recipe' fairly loosely - it may include just include a new ingredient I haven't used before.
Jan 30 - Feb 5
For the month of February I will be doing songs with a love theme. :) This will is a picture of Poppy who seems quite relaxed here but goes INSANE every night at 10pm.
Wild Things by The Troggs
Wild thing...you make my heart sing...
You make everything
Groovy
I said wild thing...
I've never really attempted anything like this on photoshop before, so any coments, suggestions or advice would be really appreciated.
On annonce de la neige en montagne pour la semaine prochaine, mais il semble que le printemps arrive...
Pas sûre que ce soit ma préférée de la semaine, mais il fait tellement beau...
Chives revival
They forcast snow in the moutain next week, but there are signs that spring is coming... Not sure this is really my favorite of the week, but this weather required celebration.

Foto-Buddies Project 52, Week#42: Composition - Symmetry
The next task in my Project 52 "Composition" series is symmetry.
I don't think this photo is the best example of symmetry, since the subject is not perfectly symmetrical to start with. But I'm biased because this is my beloved phone, a Samsung Galaxy SII that I have nicknamed "Sammy." I think I still got the basics of symmetry down, i.e., positioning the camera dead-center to the object.
I think I took this during the minutes in between the biblical weather. So much rain, so little time for photos...
Given all the red in the last two shots, I thought some blue would be a nice change.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. My biggest and favorite weakness when it comes to food. I have to drive over an hour to get one, but so worth it when we do. Original glazed is the best.
Foto-Buddies Project 52, Week#7: Elements of Design--Shape
Not too sure if I understood the challenge of this assignment, but my goal here is to feature circles.
Coffee is the staple of a good morning for me. :)
It was our first meal for our Sandbridge family vacation so we had to have fresh corn. I was helping mom shuck these ears and was loving the vibrant, juicy freshness so I had to run and get my iPhone to shoot a few pics. Hipstamatic filters are the ticket. :) The corn was DELICIOUS!
I have a tendency to over-react from time to time. My resolution this year is to make sure I'm being proactive and not reactive. In essence, I'm going to try really hard not to cry over spilt milk.
This is one of my favorite waterfalls to visit. This time I visited it in the winter to see what it looked like. While there is not a lot of water flowing, it is still a nice image.
Had to make an image where red balloons were prevalent. Socked BD on Einstein CL, and a pair of Elinchroms with bare bulb aimed at the ceiling to provide fill everywhere.

MCP Project 52 - "Muse"
A Muse is defined as a guiding spirit and a source of inspiration. My kids are the guiding spirit of my photography. Lily in particular is a source of much inspiration, laughter, mirth, but most of all, love. She's my little muse in a tutu.

(1/52)
So I'm gonna try my hand at this Project 52 thing. I've been very annoyed at myself for not making that many photos so this year I'm going to upload a new photo every week.
I was unsure about using this photo, but screw it.
Maybe not the best subject, but this week was tough. Between classwork, games, and a my job I was extremely busy. But by the grace of God, I survived.
2/52: Weekly Photo Challenge: Illumination
Riddle: What do you think this is?
Some clues here: elpadawan.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/weekly-photo-challenge...
Okay, so this week I cheated. It was the mid semester break, so of course this week of all weeks I didn't get a single photo. But, looking back, I realised that I recorded the background plates for my short film. So this is a still shot from it. It was the first time that I had tried taking a still frame from video. For those that are wondering - it was filmed in High Definition, I took the still in Premiere then opened it in Photoshop to convert it to the right aspect ratio (as it was recorded in 1.33, not square pixels). Much easier process than I thought, and picture quality is just as good as if I'd used a still camera in my opinion.
I was always told I had beautiful hands. Long, lean with shapely nails. Over time, they've gained more lines, gotten a little more chubby - the nails a little more brittle. They show the effects of a life of labor and love. But their imperfection holds my daughter's perfect little hands.
Currently, my constant state of mind is my upcoming trip to Paris. I leave one week from today! I chose to do a post about my trip to Paris because it will very much shape my future (at least for the next few months). With travel comes new inspiration, thoughts & ideas, and projects. I'm just as excited for the aftermath of the experience as a I am for the trip.
