wk1/52: Looks like I'm headed into the storm.

Gridded Einstein CL and back for edge light, gridded and socked strobe on CL on the models face, and another gridded strobe shooting through the rings.

Starting off with hard themes this year. Luckily my son was getting ready to eat these Doritos and I knew I had my picture! Added a little bokeh texture to give it a festive feeling.

NEVER EVER give Beaker access to the internet, my credit card, or my frequent flyer card....

*shakes head*

Taken me ages to get around to this not usually my scene. After a few goes I found that moving the background closer to the light source gave a better result. A mix of daylight and candlelight. Would probably have been better with the curtains closed so more influence from the candle..

Et ça, ça vaut de l'or."

Ce n'est pas mon genre de porter des bijoux, mais que ne ferait-on pas pour une photo...

I don't usually wear jewels, but I am all dedicated to my "almost 365" project.

(this project is way harder than it seemed starting out, for the record.)

This picture is momentous: I shot myself in profile. To the best of my knowledge it's the first one I've allowed to be posted like that, because, you see, I'm the klutz of the family. I have more broken bones and trips to the ER than the rest of them combined. (Counting both things separately. I KNOW.) I also hate milk, used to hate all dairy products, and love caffeine. So basically I'm screwed.

And that is related to my profile how? Because I've broken my nose twice. First time I tripped over my own feet and landed face down on a tile floor, smushing my nose. We pushed it back into place and I went on my way. The second time it happened I was wrestling with my younger brother and he stood up suddenly and smashed his head into my nose. Which broke. (He also did that to my mom when he was three. He has a VERY hard head.) The best part about it was that we were having our pictures taken for our parents that night as a Christmas gift. So we put concealer over the bruising and I have a very lumpy nose in that photo. (The swelling went down in a couple of days.)

So my favorite part of this story is at the time I had shorter, layered, streaky blond hair that I kept saying made me look like Owen Wilson minus the broken nose. Three days later? Yep. Broken nose. Moral of the story: don't joke about broken bones.

Project52 - Week #4

This is what is left of my failed attempt at my daughter blowing glitter at the camera. lol The glitter went all over the ground and made a pretty little glitter bokeh all over. :) I think it is even in my hair still. I ♥ little girls and their glitter-y sunshine-y sparkly-ness.

I'm always trying to avoid the obvious choice for each week's topic. For that one it wasn't easy at all...

CHRISTMAS - NATAL

..to know that you're by my side and distance will never matter.

Today, we went on a photography workshop in Blijdorp Zoo with the resident photographer Rob Doolaard.

Lucky enough, it was feeding tme for these little critters and they we're fighting for the one mouse.
