This shot was originally for my 52 week project, but I rejected them as I was not happy with how they came out, but thought I would post them anyway.
Maggie and I spent some time in the garden moving dirt. She was so dirty that she needed a mid-morning bath. Instead of checking social media, I decided to grab my camera and snap a few photos of her giggly face.
{m4h project 52 // week 2 // imperfection}
my youngest son had his very own language when he really started talking. it was so different from typical baby talk that we often had no idea what he was saying unless we had him point to it. his older brother picked up on his words a lot quicker than we did and so we started making a list of words - just for posterity...and later, it came in handy when we fought with the school system for 3 years to get him speech therapy. I still have this list to this day...he has overcome his speech issues...and we joke about "logan's words" now. it was perfectly imperfect...and something that I treasure about him. he is still as unique as he can be...drives me mad, makes me laugh until I cry and whenever I hear the beatles song "ob la di, ob la da" I just smile and think of him saying a very similar word...as he watched the "school bus" aka "hah bi dah" drop his brother off every afternoon.

Week 5/52
Emulate a Great
This week we were given a choice of two photographic greats. The brief - to recreate one of their images.
As my Photoshop skills aren't up to much, I chose Alfred Stieglitz - and after doing a bit of research, chose his image 'Dorothy Norman (Hands)'.
Welcome to week 7 of project fifty two.
I take technology for granted. But every now and then, I suddenly become hyper aware that I am actively participating in something so completely bizarre that I become overwhelmed with the awe and wonder of what mankind has achieved. That happened to me the other day while I was talking to my wonderful mother on skype using my iPad.
We started on the PC but I switch her over to the iPad because I wanted to show her the new Ikea shelves I put up in one end of the apartment. I then walked her around, leaned the ipad against a jar on my coffee table and sat back on the couch to enjoy the rest of our conversation. It was that moment as I looked around our living room, with the overpowering sunlight streaming in, folded socks on the table tray with TV remotes... and suddenly realized... here I was, speaking with my mother... LOOKING at my mother on a device no more than a quarter inch thick, who lives about 1700km away, having a conversation as if she was sitting next to me.
How did we get here? How many insane events had to occur to make this possible. And for me to think this was normal.
There will be a day... or I'm sure that day has already arrived, where people won't look at this as being anything out of the ordinary. I however like the feeling that sweeps over me when I come to the realization that I'm living in the future.
And I can't wait to see what's next.

Project 52, week 16, 3/5. O Canada!
The Canadian flag is here flanked by the Québec and Montréal flags.
Absolutely no symbolism whatsoever is intended by the Canadian flag blowing strongly in one direction, and the other two blowing weakly in the opposite direction. Really, none. I swear.
Across from Place du CANADA, Montréal, QC, CANADA.
It's a new year!
In 2014 I started a Project 52. But alas, I didn't make it to 52 photos. I thought I'd give it another try in 2015.
The rules are simple. 52 photos of food that I have made (mostly) from scratch. Most of the recipies will likely come from Food Network Magazine or Bon Appetit Magazine. I'll include the recipe in the description and offer some quick thoughts on how it turned out.
Ruby Red Shoes by Sawyer Brown
"Where'd you get them ruby red shoes
They look like they could take a man
To a place he could use
We could tap our heels girl
And chase away my blues
If I could talk you out of them ruby red shoes "
Green–my favorite color to photograph.

Subject: My Favourite
Claire was out tonight with the girls, so it was boys night in, Matthew, Sam and yours truly. So we decided treat ourselves, a film and popcorn (Dad's popcorn as the boys call it, not the microwave stuff).
So my favourite this week is popcorn, Madagascar and the kids - Dad's favourite.
I did it! Thank got it is over. It was a long journey and a great learning experience, but
I am glad it is over. Now for something more ambitious: 365days

From a fetish shoot for a friend, done as a favour, as I'm not really fond of taking photographs of people.
One of my favorite spots to hang out at my house is on my roof. Not too terribly far up off the ground, but nevertheless an edge.

I love the detail and texture of leaves–dead or alive. It has to be one of my favorite things to photograph.

I was away at the weekend and came home on sunday night. In front of my door there was a parcel with a surprise in it: some swiss chocolate and a wonderful polaroid picture! Thank you, Ba!

The only way to properly record what I saw is by using the 9-frame handheld bracketing and highspeed of the D3s. Post process in Photomatix Pro to recreate the sky as seen that evening.

Fatima is my school friend, we studied at Willes Little Flower School for around 2 and a half years. And finally passed the Secondary School Certificate Examination in 1981. Recently we met along with some other old buddies. Here she is with her mother.
This week all the older kids were with their Dad, so he had us all to himself. He was soaking up this moment all to himself on the merry go round and it was so sweet.
Little late posting this, it has been a little manic, as a result of my wife going back to work and Lucy starting crèche. The early verdict, she loves it!
....I feel like it needs.....something.
Thoughts?
But anyhow, I learned a lot. PS was sooooo slowwww(which is a bit unusual). I had no idea why until I tried to upload the .jpeg to flickr. HUGE file... heh. Whoops.
I also imagined it a bit different in my head, but I wasn't able to find the hole image I was looking for. -.- which didn't help at all. *sigh* oh well...
