Was putting the compost out this morning when I happened to spot this tiny, lone poppy sprouting amidst the scrubby wasteland of weeds that makes up the back garden.

It was lucky that I went back inside immediately and got the camera and snapped a few photos, as when I went out a few hours later, the crazy gale that's been blowing all day had wrenched its four paper-thin petals off and scattered them in the surrounding grass.

My pattern in the past has been to find the good in things and focus on the positive, but I'm mixing it up this year and sometimes focusing my lens on some of the things that irritate/anger me. In this case, U.S.A. consumerism.

Today's Project 365 Pic is of the advertising on the side of a pub near my house.

I love the old Ballarat Bertie ads.

There are still a couple more of these around town.

Good meals at this pub too.

May 26 A very long and draining day. I feel very tired and my head hurts. Anyway, enough complaining! I've had this tin for over a year now it carries my hand rolled cigs (I know evil and bad!). Very handy as I can fit it into my jeans pocket!

I went caching with Alistair. He found most of the caches and did all the donkey work. Caches are not normally as big as this one!

This was taken on a Sunday morning... I can imagine these friends saying, let's meet for breakfast and hang out... which in this day and age means all stare at their phones! ;-)

This is a pretty ridiculous sign, I think. I mean, what's the alternative? Could I normally pay to get $5? Do they sell it for $2.50 when it's on clearance? :P

Pulled another one from the archives. A sad attempt at a self portrait from last year. Focus is off too.

I'm trying to finish it before we go to the movie Friday night!

2nd October 2011.

I haven't been up to much today, I've just been enjoying my first day off in almost three weeks! My Momma made us this lovely Sunday dinner too! Plus, this is my first food shot! Please press 'L', you won't be disappointed!

While I don’t really think this amaryllis plant is worthy of not 3, not 4, but -- count ‘em -- 5 photos of this project, I had pronounced it dying on Day 96. I stopped watering it and ignored it completely, and now there are four robust shoots getting bigger every day. I have no idea if they could send up a flower or not, but my black thumb gardening has been an adventure: Getting the bulb on Day 18, planting it on Day 33, its growth on Day 58, and its assumed death on Day 96.

Littered on the soil are the remains of my abstract pencil flower arrangement in a lazy-girl version of composting.

I promise I won't bother you again with this plant -- unless it flowers, ha ha!

Day 117 , Project365

I took this and did quite a bit of PP . Do you think a homeowner would like to have a Glamour photo similar to this of their home ?

Walking along the trails and seeing the leafs sprouting out.

Day 199 - Sunflowers and corn, turned out to be a good photo.

November 22, 2019

Thank you for this treat, Emily.

There's a corner in my office at school that has become a collection space for "a few of my favorite things". There's the picture of Michel and I hiking in Dominica; it reminds me of all the fun trips and adventures we've had together. Next to that is a picture of my family in the ND tunnel, with the famous "Play Like a Champion Today" sign. That reminds me of where I've come from (family, ND). I've always had jade plants---I love them and they are virtually indestructible. The voodoo doll is from New Orleans (it's the God of Skool). I bought it to bring me good luck in my third-year review. This was right before Hurricane Katrina. Finally, my "Girls Can Do Anything" magnet, which I bought from a San Francisco artist. That bright, colorful message empowers me even on my darkest days.

Jer bought me flowers today - "just cause".

I really took this on the 7th, but I needed a photo for the 6th. I actually bought it on the 5th. Well, picked it up on the 5th. I did all the negotiating for it on the 3rd and Reddell Honda went and got the car from Darrell Waltrip for me so I wouldn't have to give those assholes my money.

I am so lucky. My neighbor is an aesthetician and works out of her home. She also has evening hours. I went over tonight for a facial. She uses all vegan organic products. My skin is much happier.
