An impromptu brought forward advance birthday celebration! Should be taking place tomorrow, but the little girl's grandma remembered her appointment at the last minute. Happy 5th birthday, little girl!

When Brant lived at home we did not have a mud room and he always left his shoes by the door in this corner of the dining room. He's never adjusted to leaving them in the mud room and out of habit takes them off in the dining room. Now he's teaching his little girl to do the same thing. When I woke up this morning and saw these shoes by the door it made me smile.
Dreary cold & rainy day here on the Texas Gulf Coast - this cute little statue is at the park in my subdivision, Tuscan Lakes in League City.

I tried a couple of years ago to do a picture every day, but I didn't get very far. I figured the first of the year was a good time to try again. This isn't exactly what I would have planned to start with, but I just decided this morning to do this. I worked last night, and have to get to bed so I can work again tonight. This is definitely going to be a challenge!
Today's Project 365 pic is an experiment with light painting with a laser while leaving the shutter open for a few seconds.
I might try some similar stuff outside with a torch and some trees at some stage.

Quite true, dishonesty is the second best policy - and we always get second best from most. Today a think-tank has come up with the idea that Public Sector workers should have their pay frozen. This is not so long after the Government gave themselves an increase in their pensions. Now they don't want teachers and nurses to have a pay rise. There was another quote in the book that went along the lines of, "It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark." Maybe the Government should have built their Ark before the flood.
I like reading these books that have little quotes, some funny and some serious.
We know how to party...
Latin parties are the best... we have young and old partying together.

We had temps into the lower 60's today...a one day thing according to the weather folks, but I'll take it!!

Project 365 picks a weekly challenge that you can participate in at your discretion. I will probably never enter the challenge but I am going to use it for the inspiration that is so lacking in my photos lately. This week is fire. I lit a candle and took a picture.
Day 110 of 365.
Have you ever been caught with no cover and it just buckets down? I mean really buckets down. To the point of there's no point running for cover because it's raining so hard you're just going to get soaked anyway? Well, it happened to me getting off the train yesterday. Had to dry my hair off after that one.
Today's Project 365 photo is of a murder of crows that were perched on the rail signals outside the Train Station.
Day 131: After lunch ed and i went over to the Fairfax county government center to take some pictures. This guy was sitting on one of the many benches behind the building. It doesn't look like he was having a good day.
A pleasant afternoon with Deb, James and Matt. Lovely to catch up over a few drinks - here is the first round in The Grapes.
Well, it was a bit of a rough morning so other than some basic white balance and levels corrections I decided to leave me alone. We both got up late this morning and after she tore off like a fevered dervish I started to get ready and decided there was really no point in doing anything at all. Nice bags under my eyes, huh?! :-O
Only 2 more days for Project 365. I can't believe it!
