While we have the probability of spotting several other grosbeak species up here, this is, by far, the more common. It's an adult female. Both sexes make daily multiple appearances at our created bird oasis.

Female Hummingbird IDs can be quite iffy. The other probabilities of similar species here are the Black-chinned and Costa's. Anna's has a straight, short bill and white supercilium. Its tail is reported to project beyond the wing tips but you need the ideal perspective of a perched bird to determine this. I also base my ID selection on the straight bill shape, but other local Hummers have similar bills. The blooms on which the Hummer is accessing are those of Parry's Penstemon, an early blooming native flower that seems to be the current choice of several birds and insects that thrive on nectar.

A random graph of n nodes may be constructed by adding each possible link with a given probability p. The obtained graph then has density p.
One may roughly model traceroute measurements of the internet topology from one monitor as the collection of all shortest paths from this monitor to all other nodes in a graph, which we call an exploration of the graph.
Then, one obtains all the links which belong to a shortest path from the monitor to any other node; in other words, the only missing links are the ones between two nodes at the same distance from the monitor.
The number of such links higly depends on the density of the graph. If the graph is a tree (and thus its density is very low) then all links belong to a shortest path, and its exploration will show 100% of the links; if the graph is a clique (and thus has the maximal density, 1), then only n links are on a shortest path, and thus the exploration will miss many links ((n-1)(n-2)/2 precisely, i.e. almost all of them if n is large).
The plot gives the proportion of links discovered during the exploration of a random graph as a function of its density. It has several non-trivial peaks, and has been called camel plot for this reason. It shows that the exploration process has a very complex behavior which depends strongly on the density, but has no direct relation with it.

The seventh graders studied theoretical and experimental probability. The students conducted trials to determine whether two 2-player dice games were fair games (games in which each player has an equal probability of winning). Students identified the sample space in order to calculate the theoretical probabilities; the class then compiled its data in a shared Google Sheet and observed that the experimental probability approached the theoretical probability as the number of trials increased.

Prof. Jamie O'Brien recreated that scenario for his Statistics class on Monday by arranging to have live goats behind two of the doors and candy behind the third door. Which door would you choose?

There is a probability that you don’t agree with me, but I love this picture. I love how rustic and ripped pears are. I love that the pears are standing up in Julia’s book. But, I have to admit that I didn’t use my tripod in this picture and it doesn’t seem completely straight and balance. Next time I would use my tripod to improve my framing and to have better stability.
