Voting at the OKCloakroom. What is the probability that, if you give a bunch of data specialists an unconstrained input, they will give you nonsense data?
Statistics and Probability Alumni Networking (SPAN) Day The Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the College of Arts and Science are pleased to welcome back to campus three of its distinguished graduate alumni in the fields of probability and statistics: Professor Haijun Li, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Washington State University and Associate Director of the WSU Data Analytics Initiative Professor Xikui Wang, Associate Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Professor, Department of Statistics, University of Manitoba Professor Yiqiang Zhao, Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Studies), Faculty of Science and Professor of School of Mathematics and Statistics, Carleton University They are returning to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the start of their U of S graduate programs (September 1986) and to help us all celebrate the 100th anniversary of the U of S Alumni Association. As part of these celebrations, we are hosting a Statistics and Probability Alumni Networking (SPAN) Day on Saturday November 5, 2016. The distinguished visitors and their former graduate supervisors will give research talks and there will be an opportunity for current students and faculty to interact with the visitors. In particular, the day will end with a panel discussion on the theme: "How to turn your degree from a small graduate program into a big success."
The probability of getting dealt a straight flush is around 64,000 to 1. Yet somehow Tony manages to surpass these odds every time he sits down to play. Of course, it took a long time to perfect his art of cheating at poker. The sleight of hand required was no easy thing to learn. Having picked up the rules of the game at a young age in high school, he eventually dropped out of education to pursue a full-time career in poker. Hell, it wasn't as if his grades would have allowed him to do anything better than become a cleaner.
Tony makes his losses just like any other gambler, but with his tricks he's able to make a healthy reward for his troubles. The only things he favour above the crispness of a fresh pack of cards in his hand is alcohol and women. His addiction to both provides the perfect relief for him after a long game. When you have all the money you need to buy drinks and women, there are no complaints. Now in his early twenties, with his whole life ahead of him, it seems like nothing will ever stop his fun. His confidence in his ability growing by the minute, life just seems to good to make a change.

WHY
With the vast options that are available in the field of product designing I faced quite a challenge in deciding the topic for my thesis. I, also, wanted to make a conscious effort in selecting a topic that I could pursue professionally after my degree.
My first objective was to try something, which is relatively under-explored in Pakistan and steer clear from the run-of-the-mill ideas.
A “futuristic” theme seemed perfect because it has just that edge that I wanted in my work. Immensely experimental and completely new, it has provided me the challenge to test my creative skills as well as balancing practicality with some fun.
I have always been a technology fanatic, keeping up with the latest gadgetry, watching sci-fi films, and reading up on a lot of fiction. I also have considerable experience in filmmaking, having assisted and directed several AD Films, Art Direction, Documentaries, Short-plays, and Music videos. These experiences have enhanced my interest and given me insight in this topic and therefore I think that I will be able to do justice to it. I am also keen on continuing this work afterwards.

Bayesian phylogenetic tree of IHHNV isolates.
Posterior probabilities are indicated in the branch nodes. The tree was rooted using Asian isolates of IHHNV infecting P. monodon as outgroups and collapsed for clarity. Circles represent the region of haplotype origin in the northwestern coast of Mexico; white: north; gray: central; black: south; dotted: west coast of the Baja California Peninsula.

Made with Image Creator from Microsoft Designer, formerly known as the Bing Image Creator. Powered by DALL·E 3.
I think that AI image generation is similar in many ways to photography. The camera itself handles all the fine details, but the photographer is in charge of curating the types of images that will be created.
Ultimately, it is all about maximizing the probability that something good will be created.
This is very similar to AI image generation, in terms of the skills involved and what the human does vs. what the machine does.
You can't compare AI image generation to the process of actually making these images from scratch with 3D software or paint/pencils, where the human controls every detail.
However, I think the process really is very similar to that of photography, as I made the case for above. I think that DALL-E 3 is by far the most powerful AI image generation tool currently available.

Consensus trees from the Bayesian phylogenetic analysis of Iranian textile characters.
Numbers at nodes show clade credibility values, which reflect the proportion of trees in the posterior probability sample that share a given node. Panel A shows the tree inferred from all characters (credibility values outside parentheses) and from non-pile-weave design characters (credibility values inside parentheses) using the base model. Panel B shows the tree inferred from pile-weave design characters using the base model. Note the shifted position of the Papi.

An incomplete pearl-bordered roundel frames a diamond containing a pair of confronting peacocks that flank a Tree of Life and stand on a pair of confronting lions or dogs. Interspaces between diamond and border contain a pair of griffins (above) and a floral/vine motif (below). Winged bodies of confronting goats(?) stand on top of roundel and at right is an ornate palmette supported by a griffin. Tangential to the roundel at the upper right is a smaller pearl-framed medallion containing a circular Kufic inscription around a diaper-patterned center.
