A view of the Council Chambers on the ground floor of City Hall in downtown Austin. Ten members of the council are elected based on geographic districts, while the mayor is elected at-large. The City of Austin is incredibly proud of its local music culture, and every Austin City Council meeting includes live Music Proclamation Day performances during the lunch hour, which are broadcast live on ATXN-TV, the City of Austin government access channel.

The copper-clad building, completed in 2004, is the work of lead architect Antoine Predock, principal of Antoine Predock PC. Prior to 2004 Austin’s City Council had occupied a Municipal Building that had last been expanded in 1938, largely funded by the Public Works Administration.

Elsecar bandstand even looks good on a wet & miserable Monday.

“The Old Bushmills Distillery is an alcohol (primarily Irish whiskey) distillery in Bushmills, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, founded in 1784 and owned by Proximo Spirits. Bushmills Distillery uses water drawn from Saint Columb's Rill, which is a tributary of the River Bush. The distillery is a popular tourist attraction, with around 120,000 visitors per year. It produces the Bushmills brand of Irish whiskey.

The company that originally built the distillery was formed in 1784, although the date 1608 is printed on the label of the brand – referring to an earlier date when a royal licence was granted to a local landowner to distil whiskey in the area.[1][2] After various periods of closure in its subsequent history, the distillery has been in approximately continuous operation since it was rebuilt after a fire in 1885.”

On the battlefield at Waterloo,Belgium.

View from 10,500 feet elevation, Yankee Meadows Reservoir below disappears behind the stand of dying pines in a troubled part of the forest West of Panguich, UT. Damage caused by the Pine Bark Beetle is devastating this forest range in an already tinder box dry, fire threatened region. Should fire break out, each of those dead trees will probably torch like a lit match head.

Hiking on June 29, 2025 on Lower Loop Trail in Crested Butte Colorado

Nice sunset as I was fishing with one of my sons and grandsons. About a mile from our house. The natural area has several ponds and the area is great for fishing and walking on the numerous trails.

In the very early morning, before the tourists arrived, I photographed the stunning mounted statue of Todo Takatora that stands in the inner courtyard of Imabari castle. He is overlooking the restored 5 story tenshu (keep) of the coastal castle he designed and built in the early 17th C. Shikoku Island, Japan.

She seemed to be walking alongside me wearing this oddly trendy outfit. She passed to my left again and again, and I finally realized this was either an unusual dream or just your everyday street-side animation. At the Zara store, Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London.

My general plan, a year ago, was to take a photo of the power lines that parallel Charlotte Highway a few miles north of Mulliken, using my iPhone for the day's camera. The photo I took, and posted, was probably not the photo I had in mind when I left the house. But that's OK; I like it....

==========

Murtha Road's only about a mile long, but it's attractive, with woodlots and a couple very differently photogenic farms. And at the northern end it's near the edge of the Portland State Game Area. I often head for Murtha when I just want some attractive rural photos. Last July 7 it was my route to the wires I planned to photograph.

This trip found a few deer in Murtha's soybeans, one of which decided to cross the road in front of me as I framed a photo of the trees and the fields. Thus today's image.

This photograph is an outtake from my 2024 photo-a-day project, 366 in 2024.

Number of project photos taken: 25

Title of folder: Murtha Road, mostly

Other photos taken on 7/7/2024: Since the bathroom rebuld was scheduled to begin the next day, I had one last opportunity to get some "Bathroom Before" pix. So my phone and I took sixteen photos on the old room.

I had to travel nearly 4,000 miles to see a local girl who hit the bigtime. Chrissie Hynde and her Pretenders just happened to be playing the Palladium in London while we were there. She was born in Akron, Ohio, 73 years ago, but proved to us that she can still rock with the best of them.
