Hiking on McIntosh Lake Trail in Longmont Colorado

A few bees and butterflies are starting to show up. The lupines that overwintered have begun to bloom. Wall flowers are blooming and the tulips are towards their end for the season. A few tall allium are starting to bloom and lots of annuals are starting up. Long established rhododendrons are blooming well.

Located on the lakefront of Lake Michigan, the Milwaukee Art Museum is one of the largest art museums in the United States. Opened in 2001, it was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, who was inspired by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. The style and symbolism of the building are based on Gothic architecture and designed to represent the shape of a ship looking over the lake.

Man cannot live on bread alone. That’s why we have cheese. Cheese, cheese and more cheese, in all its varied forms. And they all can be found at the main store of Paxton & Whitfield, 93 Jermyn Street, London. Cheesemonger to the crown for more than 250 years, P&W has operated since 1742 and in this location since 1894. Dare to step inside... the aromas alone will hold you prisoner.

Jake was kind enough to give me Lindsey's old 105 brakes when she upgraded. These puppies are definitely nicer than the ProMax brakes that came with the bike.

This here is the mounted rear brake. I have yet to cable it up and adjust the brake pads. Once that's complete, I'll replace the front.

The Blue Mosque is famous for its interior, decorated with over 21 thousand Ottoman era Iznik tiles, made from fired quartz, with a bit of clay and silica. The tiles are decorated in four traditional colors –turquoise, cobalt, malachite, and coral, giving the mosque its famous overall blue colour. The traditional techniques for making the Iznik tiles, were all but lost for 2 centuries, but have recently been revived. Istanbul, Turkey.

The lupines are almost finished and mostly deadheaded, but the gaillardia are in full bloom and several day lilies, planted this spring, have started to bloom. Several foxglove 'volunteers' have been removed before they went to seed, since they are now classified as invasive. Vancouver, BC.

“The Old Bushmills Distillery is an alcohol (primarily Irish whiskey) distillery in Bushmills, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, founded in 1784 and owned by Proximo Spirits. Bushmills Distillery uses water drawn from Saint Columb's Rill, which is a tributary of the River Bush. The distillery is a popular tourist attraction, with around 120,000 visitors per year. It produces the Bushmills brand of Irish whiskey.

The company that originally built the distillery was formed in 1784, although the date 1608 is printed on the label of the brand – referring to an earlier date when a royal licence was granted to a local landowner to distil whiskey in the area.[1][2] After various periods of closure in its subsequent history, the distillery has been in approximately continuous operation since it was rebuilt after a fire in 1885.”

A wet, tradescantia leaf under a microscope.

Allthough the image is recorded on the smart phone, the camera that captures it is a Max-see d6de Skybasic microscope.

The turntable, stand and lights are not part of the microscope kit, although a stand is provided with the microscope, it is very basic.

In the foreground, in front of the blue flax, the lavender is about to bloom. A few Icelandic poppies are blooming. The prolific lupines are, in particular, attracting a lot of bees, although some of the lupines are starting to go to seed starting from the bottom of the blossoms and I'm starting to prune these out before they go to seed and take over the garden. I'm hoping that this will create more room for the many other later blooming flowers to succeed the lupines.

A view of the Council Chambers on the ground floor of City Hall in downtown Austin. Ten members of the council are elected based on geographic districts, while the mayor is elected at-large. The City of Austin is incredibly proud of its local music culture, and every Austin City Council meeting includes live Music Proclamation Day performances during the lunch hour, which are broadcast live on ATXN-TV, the City of Austin government access channel.

The copper-clad building, completed in 2004, is the work of lead architect Antoine Predock, principal of Antoine Predock PC. Prior to 2004 Austin’s City Council had occupied a Municipal Building that had last been expanded in 1938, largely funded by the Public Works Administration.
