This is Jazzy's princess birthday cake. I've never seen anything like it. A friend of Jazzy's mom made it for her. It was strawberry on the inside. Delicious! I love cake. All cake. :-)
Well. I'm sure a lot of you remember Disney's Gummi Bears Cartoon? If not YT!
And a few years back, Disney/Pixar released Brave into theaters.
Well as much as I like Brave, i feel that Pixar really showed a good deal of hubris here with the main character Merida.
As she really in many ways is a copy of Princess Calla from Gummi Bears!
Ya see, Callla was one of Disney's 1st anti princesses in a way. She was very free-willed, tuff, and independent. Thus she felt that what was expected of her as an princess was not going to be held to common expectation
Now her characterization differed between writers. But that was really what I got from the character.
On December 3, 1988, they aired "Girls Knight Out." An episode in which Calla's father held a competition to find a suitable protector for his daughter. Which enraged Calla!
As she was far more capable of taking care of herself. So she secretly pulled a robin hood and under disguise entered the contest o win her freedom.
Now...Lets look at the core of Merida! Fiercely independent, unafraid, and refuses to let stodgy tradition mold her!
But she, when placed in the same situation as Calla's, took action and proved herself the superior to her suitors!
Eventually keeping her independence.
Now when I watched Brave I felt such Deja-vu? There are simply enough similarities here that warrants Pixar's acknowledgment of Calla's influence on Merida!
And though I understand that Calla also had roots to. As originality is dead; The so-called "Mighty Pixar" to my knowledge have never mentioned the similarity between them? But I guess that would be obsessive fan thinking?
Oh yeah and Dark Crystals Princess seem as if she was a template for Calla to me. But i'm to lazy to look up production dates right now!.

Fun fact about me: long before I collected dolls, I was an anime/video game figure collector! I started collecting around 12 and collected pretty actively until I was about 21. I took a break after that and sold a lot of stuff and then around 23 moved into collecting Pullips. In the last few years, I've kind of gotten back into figure collecting, but at a much smaller scale. I'm all about balance these days (because otherwise I'd have no money!).
This is the limited color version of the Princess Serenity petit chara that's being sold at the Roppongi Hills exhibit. Unfortunately, I wasn't in Japan for it so I had to order her on eBay for a pretty significant markup, but she's worth it! Her hair and dress are pearlized and I love her original manga colors so, so much.
Also included are two pictures of my very small modern Sailor Moon collection. I will probably eventually get all of the figuarts, but no more petit charas unless they're special cases like Serenity here.

ON a gey dreich day in Rothesay Harbour, Isle of Bute, the luxury cruise ship Hebridean Princess sails away..
She started life as the MacBrayne car ferry and Royal Mail Ship, initially RMS then MV Columba (a 6th century saint), based in Oban for the first 25 years of her life, carrying up to 600 passengers, and 50 cars, between the Scottish islands.
Refitted in luxury she carries 49 guests, and 38 crew.
