The colourful princess parrot (Polytelis alexandrae) is an Australian bird of the parrot family. Its name was given in honour of Princess Alexandra of Denmark, who in 1863 married the Prince of Wales Edward VII and eventually became Queen of the United Kingdom. Other names for the species include: Queen Alexandra parrot (or parakeet), Alexandra's parakeet, Princess of Wales parakeet, rose-throated parakeet, and spinifex parrot. Their plumage is mostly green with a pink throat, bluish crown and rump, and bright green shoulders.

He gestured to the side and spoke again, “I know you’re the Princess and all, but you can’t have me locking up every person who looks at you the wrong way.”
I stopped and gave him one of my winning smiles, I even added a brief batting of my eyes for extra measure. “You like it.” I gave him a light tap to his chest and started walking again.
I knew he rolled his eyes at me, I could feel it. A moment later he followed after, re-taking up his position as my guard. He has had his position for over two-years now and not once had he hesitated to take care of anyone who came at me with ill-intentions. Sometimes I liked to think it was simply because he was good at his job, but other times I wondered if it was something else . . .

One of my premier roses in the garden here at Castle Hill, in north-western Sydney.
I planted this 'Princess de Monaco' rose in my garden in 1990, and it continues to flower without fail throughout the year.
'Princess de Monaco' is a hybrid tea rose cultivar bred in France by Marie-Louise Meilland and introduced in 1981. It is dedicated to Princess Grace of Monaco (1929–1982), who was president of Salon de la Rose's Jury in Monaco in 1981. Its parents were two hybrid tea cultivars, 'Ambassador' (Meilland, 1977) and the brilliant and famous Peace (Meilland, 1935).
