I’ve seen plastic flowers that mimic this flower.

Now I’ve seen the real thing I see why.

It’s beautiful!

This set of tulips was just gorgeous, so I had to capture them up close. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did capturing their beauty.

Emma turned one (1) and Grandma and Mom want cupcakes and 6" cake for Emm's celebration. Idea was found by Mom through Flickr (so whoever you are... thank you for your idea). Cupcakes were orange and chocolate dipped in liquid fondant. Layer cake was chocolate with pink rolled fondant and gumpaste flowers. Simply girlie and pretty.

Taken with the Sigma 50mm F2.8 Ex Macro. A cracking little lens!

Photo by mister_scantastic. It was worth stopping by just for the stuff outside!

We've had warm weather here in San Diego County for the last three days, and one of our beavertail cactus has come into bloom. It has a lot of buds, so I expect a lot more flowers in the coming days.

I lit this with a YN560-III in an 8.6 inch Lastolite softbox hand held at camera right about 4 inches from the flowers. I had a polarizer on the lens, and with the camera settings I used, no ambient light was recorded. The flash, in manual mode, was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Other pictures that I've taken of cactus and succulents can be seen in my (logically enough) Cactus and Succulents set. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157633383093236/
