Research for my individual Personal Project (a large protect from my school to pass on to the IB years, 10th grade, age 15-16). The topic of my project was how us human have been resorting to meditation as a method of escapism, while meditation is really a part of the Buddhist community and lifestyle. This is an interview I had with a Buddhist monk friend of mine from Nepal, questioning him about his opinions on meditation and its uses nowadays.

My personal project and work for my final year assessment and exhibition, was based on racism and any kind of discrimination around the world. I tried to send a message through my photographs, that we are all equal and we belong in a larger family outside the boundaries of nationality, language, religious beliefs, skin color etc.

As a development from the models previously, I used Tadashi Kawamata as in influential artist because I liked how he combines two contrasting materials together.

Portrait of my mother, exploring the mental toll that chronic illness brings. This project began as an exploration into the myth of Persephone. Inspired by the poem "The Pomegranate" by Eavan Boland, I was compelled to explore the forgotten grief of mothers, later delving into my own relationship with my mother. This piece is one of my final outcomes for this project, featuring my own mother almost paradoxically both weak and powerful.

Personal project

This is an extension to my printed textiles project, I have produced drawings incorporating Zandra Rhodes' style and use of colour as well as being inspired by a Spring/Summer 2015 trend; primitive mark-making and Eastern patterns. 1/14

“Being Indigenous in university is filled with expectations. In the past, university came with stipulations and was out rightly denied to Indigenous people. So in this age of cultural revitalization, for us children of Residential school survivors our success... for me, comes with sacrifice. Once you become aware and educated on our history and that our hardship is not normal, we have a sense of obligation to correct it in whatever capacity. You simply can't be a film director or a retail clerk, you become a combatant of the oppressive structures that harm your people. It is a burden and it is not fair.” Pete Kytwayhat is from Sahgaiehcan First Nation. He will be completing his second year in Film and Media Productions by the end of this semester at the University of Regina. Photo by Madina Azizi.
