I'm close to giving up on this 365 project as a published project on Flickr and keep it as a personal project offline. I'd say the worst part about the 365 project is that on some days you just don't feel like shooting but still have to pull something out of the bag. Inevitably this means bad pictures which often leads to quite a number of 'unfollows' which is pretty demoralising for us users who only manage 100-200 followers. I'd be interested to hear your comments on this.
As discussed in my previous upload. I'll be uploading a collection of photos. I've trialed videos before, though seems most of you prefer something quick to glance at. I wanted to make an ultra realistic, well attempted realistic home, so I incorporated some slightly different building methods, older content creators would've done in the early mesh days.
Personal projects because they bring you joy, who else has one? Something small? Something large? Anything in particular? For me, it’s photography. There’s always something new to learn. I practice and try new things, regularly. Do you?

I started a new portrait project last year, where I invited around 40 familiar faces for a quick 1-on-1 studio shoot, with 2 objectives in mind: first is a selfish one - to finally conquer the perplexing world of studio lighting… and second - to reconnect with the people I got to meet here in Singapore, the ones that have helped me one way or the other with my photography. This was sort of a 'thank you' for them.
I've spent a considerable amount of time shooting strangers in the streets. It was high time I photographed familiar faces.

I came up with this idea for a personal project where I include a milepost in each shot after making it a weekly challenge in a photography group. I think I saw the idea somewhere for the weekly challenge, but it made me think. As I was looking for the perfect shot for this challenge, I started...
As a way to stay motivated in my photographic journey I gave myself a project to document small towns. I hope you will enjoy my photography and keep checking back periodically as I will be posting more images. This image of a post office was taken in Serena, IL.

Todays little batch are offshoots from a personal project that I've chosen not to go with. So instead I chose to use and abuse them and slap about with the effects tools again. I think I'm beginning to get there- just want to try settling on a style I like though! :3
Why would a button be bittersweet? Well, because my 16-year old daughter, Anna, can't work buttons. Sometimes the things I take for granted hit me in the gut. I'm pretty far down this path of mothering a child with special needs, but there are still milestones that sting. It can be something simple like knowing other girls her age are wearing makeup (Anna has no interest) or dating (Anna desperately wants a boyfriend) to the bigger things like getting a driver's license (that won't ever happen) or going to junior prom (Anna should be in 11th grade this year but we had her repeat kindergarten). I remind myself of the progress she's making and that she is on her own timeline, but when I saw this week's theme... "Buttons and Bows"... I got a pang. She can't work a button, she doesn't have the fine motor control, so for me, the button is bittersweet.
This is how today i shot my home furniture while the quarantine. I like a lot to play with natural light from the windows. Hope you like it.
Okay, so i still haven't been able to do the long list of shoots i have for this project, and its now possibly going to be another week :( going slightly stir crazy! so, I thought I would play around on photoshop for a bit. Its kind of one of my ideas for this projects, but at the same time its not what i wanted to do, but i am finally getting somewhere with my wacom tablet! (only owned it two years :\)
So hopefully next week i will get out shooting properly!
(i have also bought some 120 film to make use of some of my camera collection! :))

This week's theme for the Flickr Macro Monday group is "It's A-Peeling to Me." From this week's instructions:
"Peel" is a verb and a noun. As a verb, it is defined as removing the outer covering or skin of a fruit, vegetable or shrimp. It may also refer to removing wallpaper, paper (as in a label) or paint from the surface it is adhered to in strips or pieces. As a noun "peel" is the outer covering (skin or rind) of a fruit or vegetable. Of course there are other sorts of things relating to "peel" or "peeling" you may choose to illustrate.
Shedding My Shell
I decided to play with hard-boiled eggs for this challenge because eggs are wonderful photography subjects in which to practice using dramatic lighting skills, and an egg shell is a wonderful metaphor for my personal growth. I see my shell through negative and critical eyes. I'm actively working on breaking down my shell that keeps me "safe" but really just keeps me lonely. In order to grow, I need to break.
For this project, i photographed my real sister who as a teenager visited me in London for the first time for two months. The project is special to me because not only did she go back home with a newfound love for London but in some ways i felt she became a much more confident version of herself. For me, as a photographer, it was incredible to be a silent witness to this gradual change albeit for a short while.
Resolved outcome based on my historical seaside hometown of Lyme Regis and experiences of my identity growing up and living there.
Better get back into my Flickr Box - so here we go...
This is a personal project I've been working on since probably April. I've been trying to get a bunch of things to line up on this shot. I have shot this scene probably 6 times, and haven't nailed it yet. But have gotten a few nice shots. Close, but not my goal.
Tide too low, focal length not right, water not smooth, ferry not sharp from rough water. The list goes on and on. I don't know if I will ever nail it, but I will continue to try.
