Just a simple candid street style Snapograph taken at London UK showing part of a Trombone that’s being played by someone in a Sally Army band.

I'm also working on a personal project called Faceless and this snap will be included.

Toronto 4-4-0 Type - 32 cents 1983 - Canadian stamp

For this week´s macro challenge our task assigned was to take a macro of something related to a hobby. In days gone by it was stamps for me - but life got in the way - now to figure what to do with all those little pieces of paper.

About the stamp - Issue date was October 3, 1983 - Printer was Ashton-Potter Limited. For those that care the Scott number is #999

Description:

The mid-1980 marked the centennial of "The Last Spike" and the 150th anniversary of the first Canadian railway, the Canada Post Corporation produced a series of train stamps.

In the 1850's some Canadian railroads began building their own locomotives to meet North American conditions. Among these was the Toronto, the first locomotive manufactured in Canada West, built in Toronto in 1853.

The locomotive stamps were designed by Ernst Roch of Montreal. The format chosen, which presents the locomotives in profile against a plain background colour, are ideal for presenting the mechanical complexity that makes locomotives so visually interesting. The principal challenge of designing these stamps was to simplify the engines to make a sufficiently strong graphic statement at stamp size without sacrificing significant detail.

Happy Macro Monday to all ...

As I graduated college in December, I wanted to show/document my life right after graduating. I’ve struggled to find work due to “lack of experience” or because I may not be a perfect fit for a company. So as I have been applying and learning other crafts during this time of unemployment, I took it upon myself to be vulnerable with my camera to showcase my life in this personal project.

As discussed in my previous upload. I'll be uploading a collection of photos. I've trialed videos before, though seems most of you prefer something quick to glance at. I wanted to make an ultra realistic, well attempted realistic home, so I incorporated some slightly different building methods, older content creators would've done in the early mesh days.

Personal projects because they bring you joy, who else has one? Something small? Something large? Anything in particular? For me, it’s photography. There’s always something new to learn. I practice and try new things, regularly. Do you?

I finally got a chance to post images from the photo shoot I had with Hannah the other week, to the new blog. I actually spent a good part of the weekend putting the blog together, so not as much time for editing and play. But I love the new blog, so it is all worth it.

I started a new portrait project last year, where I invited around 40 familiar faces for a quick 1-on-1 studio shoot, with 2 objectives in mind: first is a selfish one - to finally conquer the perplexing world of studio lighting… and second - to reconnect with the people I got to meet here in Singapore, the ones that have helped me one way or the other with my photography. This was sort of a 'thank you' for them.

I've spent a considerable amount of time shooting strangers in the streets. It was high time I photographed familiar faces.

This girl, well she's just my favorite person to photograph. I remind myself to let go, be free and have fun with the images I'm creating. Today we got treated with an unusually warm winter day and took advantage of this fantastic new location I found! The light was perfect, we had good music, laughter and it was so great to just have fun behind the camera. I know I'm in the midst of my "slow" season, so I'm taking full potential of working on more of my personal projects & ideas. Be on the look out for more! :)

I came up with this idea for a personal project where I include a milepost in each shot after making it a weekly challenge in a photography group. I think I saw the idea somewhere for the weekly challenge, but it made me think. As I was looking for the perfect shot for this challenge, I started...

I love shooting macro as wide open as I can so that only a sliver of the subject is in focus. While exploring in my backyard, I spied my fence line in the shade with a hint of sun illuminating the algae growing on the fence. I thought a close up look at the algae might make for an interesting "What is That?" composition.

As a way to stay motivated in my photographic journey I gave myself a project to document small towns. I hope you will enjoy my photography and keep checking back periodically as I will be posting more images. This image of a post office was taken in Serena, IL.

I started a personal project to document my everyday life with my little man. I am calling it "Me and Mine". Here is my January image. Winter is Beautiful!

The brief and questions I gave myself for this project were:

if I truly had to design my very own craft what would I want it to look like?

As a pilot, what kind of tech would I want to see in the cockpit?

What real life scenario could I incorporate making it a unique experience?

If I needed it repaired/ refueled, would I have the correct gear?

Could I build in real safety features?

What if I crashed in a remote place and needed to survive?

Can I challenge myself from a builders persepctive using parts that hardly ever come out to play?

Could I revisit my stickering techniques on such a small build?

My answers were:

I wanted something that visually had a very aerodynamic shape that looked like it was moving even when stationery, it had to have a unique "skin" that set it apart from any of my previous builds. Plus been a Starfighter, it had to be equipped with lots of weapons, that could shoot any enemy in any direction. If I wanted to be able to end a mission I could just inject and still tell the tale to my mates. My wishlist for this very personal project was, make it truly mine!

Over 80 hours of building and experimental phases was a challenge, only as its 16 x 35 studs and 9-in height, made it rather difficult to integrate not only the many play features but the final balance display stand. Ive truly enjoyed the Jam, guys you are all my hero`s, such a wonderful creative bunch. Thank you kindly to the organization of this great contest! Over &-Out

Pbbbt

I’m not exactly sure how to translate a raspberry sound but “pbbbt” was the closest I could come up with. We had a ton of deer in our yard the other day, so I took my camera out while I fed them and talked to them. This one particular doe seemed very interested in me and not scared at all. She let me take dozens of photos. I thought this one was the funniest though!

Niza Jay on The Photographic Journal

I love being a part of the photo community and all the places it takes me. I’m always in for a collaborative adventure—whether I’m shooting in-studio, out in the wild, or helping out a friend with a personal project. I especially love all the people I meet along the way.

This day had a little bit of everything. I accompanied my friend and fellow photographer Jaclyn Campanaro to the desert in Joshua Tree. She was creating a video series called “Parallax” that focused on personal perspectives of creative thinkers. This video features Niza Jay, star of the award-winning South African independent film The Wound (2017). In Jaclyn's video, Niza reflects on the desert as a metaphor for striving and self-reliance. While Jaclyn was directing and shooting video footage, I flew my drone to capture vast landscapes and different viewpoints. I also shot still photos with my camera.

Reflecting on that day in the desert and our shared experience, I revisited my photos to give them a new perspective. That perspective is filled with texture, contrast, harmony, exploration, and hope. We could all use a little hope now, right?

This is how today i shot my home furniture while the quarantine. I like a lot to play with natural light from the windows. Hope you like it.

For this project, i photographed my real sister who as a teenager visited me in London for the first time for two months. The project is special to me because not only did she go back home with a newfound love for London but in some ways i felt she became a much more confident version of herself. For me, as a photographer, it was incredible to be a silent witness to this gradual change albeit for a short while.

This is another image from my ongoing personal project to document Barton Street East in Hamilton, Ontario. This building is located at the Northwest corner of Barton and Emerald. Although the commercial portion of the grey building along Barton hides the architectural detail at ground level, the rest of the building displays it’s stucco cladding with some interesting diamond patterns. This view is the East wall of the building showing some of the residential entrances. Taken in harsh light to bring out the textures and PP conversion to B&W/monochrome to remove the trivial colour accents. - JW

PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source: Set final image size to 9000px wide, slightly increase overall exposure by setting Exposure Compensation to EV+0.35, crop to a near 16x9 format by cutting off some distracting detail along the top of the frame, level the image, apply both Tone Mapping and Dynamic Range Compression at default levels, use Tone Curve 2 tool to brink up Shadows significantly to get window detail and then also do the same with Darks, use the Graduated Neutral Density/GND tool to darken the sidewalk, increase Contrast and decrease Lightness in L-A-B mode, slightly increase Vibrance, adjust colour balance by sampling the white portion of the no-stopping sign, apply a little noise reduction, apply sharpening (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: convert to B&W, use the Levels tool in auto mode to get a better overall tonality, use the Contrast/Brightness tool to boost overall contrast and also brighten slightly, add a non-destructive Dodge/Burn layer and use it to brighten the contents of the windows, DO NOT sharpen as it goes a bit crazy with the stucco, save, scale to 7000 px wide, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3500 px wide for posting online, sharpen very slightly, save.

Better get back into my Flickr Box - so here we go...

This is a personal project I've been working on since probably April. I've been trying to get a bunch of things to line up on this shot. I have shot this scene probably 6 times, and haven't nailed it yet. But have gotten a few nice shots. Close, but not my goal.

Tide too low, focal length not right, water not smooth, ferry not sharp from rough water. The list goes on and on. I don't know if I will ever nail it, but I will continue to try.
