So today I went to an arranged date with my friend and her boyfriend Sean who was my model, My friend brought her daughter Camille along who let me take her picture and thanks to her confidence for letting me photograph her without her wig, doesn't she look gorgeous! These were taken at various locations around the town in Stirling and inside the old arcade and the thistle shopping center I am very happy with the results and the photos above are my favorite out of the many I took.
"...We are the Hebrew Israelites. We are not a religion. We are a way of life..."
So, is that different from the Jewish people?
"...those bastards you see there in Borough Park, they're imposters..."
okay.

For my personal project I focused on styling my model to fit Moschino's style and show their brand identity.
Cole Pedrick is 23 and a professional Hockey and Rugby Referee. It seems like the perfect mix: hockey in Canada all winter and rugby all over Canada in the summer. Even when he’s younger than many of the rugby players, one of the key parts of rugby is respect for officials. It’s typically for people older than him to respect his calls and call him ‘Sir.’ Photo by Heidi Atter.

TThe aim of my AS personal project was to design and produce four seasonal fashion magazine covers. When planning my four shoots I had to take into account the connections I planned to make between my own personal investigation shoot and the two photographers I studied. From both photographers I learnt how to use light effectively, the affect it can have on the image and different ways of using light. Also, Simon Pais one of the photographers I studied produces images that looked like they would fit into Vouge magazine which is where my inspiration to produce a set of magazine covers came from. I set out with a criterion of using natural and artificial light accordingly to the season I am doing. For example, for autumn my source of light was oil lamps because they give a warm orange glow which associates with the colours of the leaves.
When developing my chosen images for each magazine cover I learnt how to use the channel technique in photoshop allowing me to select the model and move her onto a clear white background. The selection is a very precise allowing me to select individual pieces of hair so when moving the model onto a white background it didn’t look out of place. To work alongside the appropriate lighting I chose appropriate colour scheme for each season and composition bringing the image together as one to portray the correct season. Researching into what is the typical fashion magazine cover structure really gave me the visual guidance I needed to create final print that met the aim of the whole project.
The idea of using natural lighting appropriate to the season I was shooting for I feel wasn’t a success. This was because of the content of what I wanted to be in the frame, also it is much easier to control lighting in the studio. Due to the idea of using natural lighting to help show what season issue the magazine is being unsuccessful I had to use artificial lighting throughout my personal shoots. However using the various skills I had learnt when doing my practical analysis I managed to use artificial lighting effectively. For example for my winter shoot I dimed the lights as if the model was at a party. Another problem I encountered was using the channel technique I had learnt to develop my summer shoot. The skill of knowing how to use channels effectively I learnt after I had done the shoots so I did not know that the model wearing a white cardigan would make this difficult to use this technique successfully. I feel that my summer magazine issue is the weakest out of the set because of the problem I had when using the channel technique. If I was to do this personal shoot again I would have planned my development stage much better and have done much further research into different ways of selecting to get a consistency of a professional look throughout the set.
This was part of my own personal project also highlighting Environmental Issues. I used pressed flowers which i then pasted onto the image and scanned as i was trying to give the impression of flowers growing out of the subjects hair.

The logo expresses what the word ACASA means. The letter A, without horizontal stem, represents the home comfort.
