How my personal project at Uni looks like in week 42. I still have a lot of thinking to do, but my idea is to make a book with a song lyric or song lyrics to celebrate the popular song lyrics of the 20th century.
This is my favourite black and white image of the collection. The highlights aren't very bright, but the shadows are a pitch black. The image has a vast tonal variety and low contrast which gives the image a soft quality. This image was taken at 4pm so the sun was just setting on an overcast day. The clouds diffused the light giving the image its soft quality.
His expression seems calm & confident, relaxed & powerful. The tilt of his head and angle of his jaw help give this impression.

This is a final piece from a project I have recently started. This project is based on communication and how the use of phones and technology have ruined our concept of face to face communication. I used Hieroglyphics as an inspiration for my own hand rendered font.

Always my favourite ones, as I'm free to experiment. I choose 1 B&W and 1 coloured image with different sizes, in order to create a different approach and yet balanced picture.
This is a three minute study where I limited my palet to three colours and refused myself any other instruments but my fingers. I used blue for the shadows, red for the middle tones and magnolia for the highlights.

While I still may post some of my personal stuff to the "Al's Stuff" gallery here I have created a blog for my day to day gaming and miniatures personal stuff that does not really have much to do with GameCraft Miniatures.

A quote from probably the greatest portrait photographer ever.
He's been a personal favorite for as long as I remember looking at photos.
If you don't know who he is, you should probably find out.

2010|365: A Design Project
In an effort to keep from getting creatively stagnant as I go through the course of a 9-5 design job, as well as staving off general laziness, I've undertaken this personal project.
Every day, rain, shine or somewhere inbetween, I will be making something cool. The results may be photos, design pieces, experimental type, videos, or anything else I feel is worth showing. The only caveat will be that each piece will have to be made that day, even though it might not get posted on the same day.
The end result of the project will be a book (possibly 365 pages long, maybe shorter to reduce costs), which I will make available to anyone who wants to pay for one.
You can track the project at the 2010|365 website or check out everything else I get up to here.
