t has been a long while since I have just done a simple head shot. I stripped down to Just make up and accessories for this on. Head on over to my blog to get all the details: justapeeksite.wordpress.com/2018/06/05/peek-152/
A beautiful dahlia I saw on my morning walk seems to fit the bill with its layers of perfectly formed petals.
Just messing around with my camera at home shooting some close ups. It’s a handle to my wood stove. I like the curvy looking lightbulb look
The tui's beak is perfectly shaped to fit into the harakeke (or NZ flax) flower from which it feeds on nectar.
Taken a few weeks ago when the harakeke was still flowering and nectar for the birds was plentiful.
Leafless Elm trees are reflected in the perfectly still waters of our pond this morning. Fog from the still-warm waters of the Millstone River rise in the background. It was 29F this morning!

We were heading last Sunday and as we drove past this laundrette I said to Ray, 'Stop! . . . I must capture that!'
The perfectly matched blue Beetle parked out front was an opportunity not to be missed and just by chance later that same day I stumbled across this piece of art, just near the St.Kilda Baths!
Not only were the colours perfect but the patterns of the reflections on her sunglasses reminded me of water and soap 'n' suds!

Pairs of Sandhill Cranes stay together; this is why they so often are seen landing in twos. Or threes, if they have their youngest offspring with them. But it seem the youngsters, who by Thanksgiving have reached birdie teens prefer to keep some distance from their parents.
Unless they want something!
Anhinga…perfectly backlit
(Anhinga anhinga)
When nature presents something wonderful, something transitory, to you, there can be no hesitation. Such moments will likely never repeat themselves.
While driving home today, we notices a Great-blue Heron and an Anhinga on the edge of the lagoon in our backyard. The heron was in a normal vertical stance, but the Anhinga was drying out its wings. I ran into the house for the camera, and, in a very stealthy manner, attempted to get into a position at the water’s edge. The Anhinga was obviously aware of me and somewhat annoyed as it moved its head rapidly from side to side. But, it didn’t change its position. I found a good spot where it was visible beneath the limbs of a tree, and nearly in line with the sun. This is the best of about a dozen frames. And all while standing on one foot.

Sometimes things just line perfectly. on 4/6/2019, a buddy and I ventured out to Altoona, PA to photograph the last remaining PRR signals. Coincidently, 25V had departed NJ the night earlier with not one, but two of NS's heritage units.
The day started off under dreary gray skies and occasional drizzle. As the day wore on, small breaks in the sky allowed for short gaps of sunlight, and this train came around Horseshoe Curve during one of those seldom times.

This was shot at the most colorful moment that evening and it lasted only around 5-8 minutes before the red and yellow disappeared and cold fog rolled in.

Nice to see this robin drop by while I was photographing the dippers. Perfectly perched for me as if it was a photo shoot! "Stand on the end of the branch, show off your catch and gaze at the view of the river" - perfect! :)
Je suis Charlie !
• Of my two cats, Charlie is the youngest. Why did I name him Charlie? Well, he came into my life shortly after the sad events of Charlie Hebdo. But he, he's far from making me sad.
This is a 2-seat version and is used to give extremely expensive passenger rides.
I have mixed feelings about these modern, 2-seat conversions. Apart from a couple of one-off examples, there were no two-seaters during the war; your first flight in a Spitfire was strictly a solo affair. In the late 1940s, a small number of 2-seaters were manufactured (or converted Mk IXs) for the Indian and Irish Air Forces - about 17 in total. In recent years, several more, otherwise perfectly serviceable, Mk IXs have been butchered to make 2-seaters. The revenue from joyrides helps keeps the single seat aircraft flying. Even so, the T9s are my least favourite Spitfires to see, and I rarely photograph them.
This aircraft, MJ627, is a genuine war survivor and is known to have shot down an enemy aircraft. It appears to be one of the original batch converted for the Irish Air Force in 1950.
If you fancy a flight in the back seat of a Spitfire, be prepared to hand over about £3,000/$4,000 for a 30 minutes experience.

Christmas crafting with Cubs. Made from three wooden pegs attached to half a wooden lollipop stick. Very little skill required, just lots of enthusiasm and patience. For this particular model, the credit goes to my 9-year old.
The imperfections make it perfect in my eyes!
Sometimes the sunset fits perfectly between the houses at Feistein lighthouse. Like it did when we visited last week.

I took a little trip into Orillia and walked along the boardwalk. I came across these Pooches on the bench. I talked with the lady that was walking the dogs for a while and then took this photo.
Two of the dogs were hers and she was dog-sitting the other.
