This Northern Pygmy Owl landed on this short branch covered in lichen. It is amazing how fast their heads pivot from side to side looking for prey or preditor.

The end of an eastbound stacker clears just in time for a westbound to pass. I'll post the video of this sometime
If you ever make the drive to the famous Milford Sound, make sure to stop off at Lake Gunn. The reflections on a clear day are insane!
Some flowers go together so very well, like these pink Tulips with the blue Hyacinths.
Perfect.
All from the shops!

This migrating male Monarch let me see the full wing span pose. You can tell it is a male by the two dark spots in the middle of the back wings. The migration is in full swing right now. Will hate to see them leave.
Here is one more that was in my camera! I didn't get out on Saturday to take pictures of the moon like I had wanted to. I had some cool places in mind and also wanted to have my tripod... However, I had a special dinner engagement so I snuck outside and took these photos freehand from Tulalip, Wa.
Super Moon:
A Natural Phenomenon The moon has an elliptical orbit, which makes full moons differ in size. When the moon is at its perigee, closest to earth, it’s approximately 31,000 miles closer to earth than when it’s in apogee, it’s farthest point. This weekends lunar phenomenon has been described as a super perigee moon. Perigee moons are about 14% larger and 30% brighter than apogee ones.

Male Dartford Warbler perched on top of very vibrant gorse bush.
Spent the morning on the glorious Suffolk coast. Arriving at 7.00am I had the place completely to myself and spent a good while wandering around the heath. I eventually found a spot which I thought, if I was a Dartford Warbler, would be perfect - sheltered, plenty of cover and a prominent location to attract the females. Then waited for half an hour for this chap to appear.
This herring (I think - but please correct me) gull's wing feathers were brilliantly illuminated as it flew into the wind at Stokes Bay, Gosport. Interesting to see how the feathers interlock to form an effective aerofoil.
This is my new favorite spot:) I'm sorry if you're getting sick of it!
Buuuut, more description later... Mmmmm...
