This curious little bird is I believe a Eurasian Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla), in Czech: pěnice černohlavá. My guess is a female, since adult males actually have black feathers on their heads.
While visiting some family in the PNW, I was playing Peek-A-Boo with one of the littlest in the family . He is 2 years old and so fun!
I used @Jessica Drossin actions in my editing of this portrait. She has wonderful actions and overlays to use in editing!
From this angle on The Windows arches, they appear to be peering at us. A wonderful formation that I was lucky to have some fine clouds around for sunset. This was taken about 30 minutes after sunset.

I had a bit of an Indiana Jones-moment when a Grass Snake decided to peek out between two slabs of concrete in a wall. They're not dangerous though unless you're a toad.
The stoat made full use of the little gaps in the dry stone wall to check out the environment before it ventured near.
The morning sun is coming from behind Mount Merapi, central Java, Indonesia. Viewed from Borobudur temple.
Morning call was at 4 am. Totally worth it!
More in Indonesia Set.
The beginning of a spectacular Northern Lights show that I missed by about 30 minutes. It was around 3am and I was tired so I decided to head home. Little did I know that in about 30 minutes there would be a multi colored Northern lights show. A friend posted pictures and showed me what I missed. DOH!
Abandoned sometime ago, not sure on the history.

A few days ago, I photographed a very irritated squirrel near this tree who really wanted me to go away. I think Mama may have been shooing us away from this nest. Some squirrels do have two litters of young ones each year. The second litter winters with their mother in the nest. I can't say for sure but I suspect this was a juvenile watching us curiously this morning.
This nest was occupied by Red-bellied Woodpeckers a couple of years ago. Our park tries to leave dead trees like this one in place if they can. They recognize their value as habitat for various critters. I applaud them for doing so.

Birdfeeder? Huh!
Today I learned NOT to judge success in feeding the birds by the rate at which the peanut level drops.
My 6yo daughter took this video, so it's a bit shaky. Lucie does this all the tiime. She likes to stick her head in my pant leg too. Goofy girl!
