Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A unique reaction to hide from my lens made for an even better shot than I had seen in the first place - enjoy!
Power from CN's U745 emerges from a rock cut at Eagle Mills Junction after delivering its train to LS&I. The power was headed light to Partridge.
Baby owls, or owlets, like this one, depend on their parents for food and protection for two to three months from fledging. This little Eastern Screech Owlet (Megascops asio) sat adorably and fluffily in a tree not fifty feet from its mother, with a sibling in a tree another twenty feet off. While in their nest cavity, dad did all the hunting, bringing back food for mom and the owlet's siblings. Now that they are out and in the world, these sweet owlets will gradually learn to fly (yes, he climbed by beak and talon up to that spot) and hunt on their own.
A quick note on milestones: this photo marks my 100th to my owl album!
They are only territorial while in the water.

Framed underneath a cut of covered hoppers is BNSF's Denver, Colorado to Laurel, Montana manifest led by C44-9W No. 4618 that is seen going through Highland, Colorado on a chilly December 13, 2015 afternoon. The train will meet its counterpart at Longs Peak.
I've been spending a lot of time in Canyonlands this winter, visiting potholes and other areas where sandstone melts snow, leaving little gems of floating flora and tiny blue-shelled snails in their depressions. I get wound up in these little scenes, particularly when the wind creates ripples of reflected light across their surface. When I come up for air, a bit dizzy, I have to reorient myself back into the greater landscape and continue my search for other worlds beyond my own.
These lovely white flowers, now largely past their best were peeking from behind a lovely white picket typpe fence. HFF
I hear marsh wrens fairly regularly when exploring in areas where they are found. However I rarely see them emerge for any length of time... certainly not long enough for me to photograph one. So, while this isn't the best photograph I am sharing it because of my excitement in actually capturing a brief moment with this wren.
Bat-eared foxes (otocyon megalotis) often use self-dug dens to shelter from extreme temperatures during the day. This animal was doing just that in a particularly arid part of The Kalahari, in Botswana. I was pleased that this fox chose to peek out from its den and take a look at us. Mercedes is on the shade cloth I've put on the Cat enclosure.
This is the first cat enclosure I built, but later I ended up sealing the whole back yard with a cat proof fence. So I leave the door open all the time for this structure. So even though she's on the roof, they are all free to roam the back yard. I was going to pull this down, but I've left it in case I need to separate a cat from the others.
When I spotted this Muscovy Duck at the edge of the lake it was wide awake and mingling with some other ducks that were there.
But as we approached it seem to go into this napping posture as if it wanted nothing to do with us, peeking over its shoulder as we passed by, pausing only briefly to grab a few shots of it and the lake, and then kept going.

1/2 pint is walking through the water ditch at the top of the ridge that separates the 12 acre clearing from the 18 acres in the forest. Corgi's definitely have a sense of humor.
A shy Marten peeks over the snow to investigate a curious sound.
While out in Algonquin this winter photographing a few of my favorite wildlife of the season. The hope for a Pine marten is always high, and usually they do show up if you are patient. This one waste no time and I caught this shot of him/her peeking over the snow bank. I hung around for awhile to continue photographing this beauty and enjoying the company.
