For their second day on the program, the ladies visited the Womens Basketball Hall of Fame. At the facility they played some wake up games and then toured the museum. After this, they enjoyed a luncheon and panel where they shared a little about themselves and heard a wonderful message from olympic swimmer Kate Ziegler. After the wonderful meal, the girls gathered for a time of curriculum to begin thinking about the state of women and sports in their communities.

Wagina Island, Solomon Islands

UUSC staff members traveled on a fiber boat entering Wagina Island. Wagina was established in the 1950's by British colonists to resettle I-Kiribati people, reportedly due to a famine in Kiribati. Today, Wagina villagers are again facing the threat of famine. Dry spells and low rainfalls are causing water insecurity. Wagina only has a few communal water tanks, which are rusty, unsafe and too small to cater for the Island's growing population. At the same time, rising sea levels are making their soils too salty. The absence of safe and reliable water supply coupled with the threat of rising sea levels increases the risk of forcible displacement for many villagers.

Located in the hub of Disneyland, the Partners statue is a tribute to the enduring partnership

between Walt Disney and his beloved animated character Mickey Mouse. The Partners statue

was sculpted by Disney Legend and Imagineer Blaine Gibson and was installed in 1993 for

Mickey Mouse’s 65th birthday. Speaking about the sculpture, Blaine comments that Walt is

gesturing out into the park and saying to Mickey Mouse, “Look what we created”.

February was a sad month for the Wild Ennerdale partners as we said goodbye to Jeremy Barlow who is moving with the National Trust from looking after Ennerdale to a new larger area in South Cumbria. Jeremy is a founding member of the Partnership without whom Wild Ennerdale would not exist. We all wish him all the best in his new job. As if in response the valley served up a fantastic day for a partners meeting outside Blacksail YHA.

I had a little trouble with the blown out snow where the light peeks through under the dog. Apart from that I'm fairly satisfied with this picture.
