This past Tuesday, July 30 over 50 people shared a Ramadan iftar at CAIR-LA's Anaheim office.
The night included an international menu that was seemingly endless – spaghetti and meat sauce, samosas, Libyan soup, hummus, batengan (eggplant dish), , noodle and rice dishes, pastas, and a wide array of delectable desserts were all served. It was all delicious, and it all went fast.
What was reflected on Wednesday, however, was the diversity in not just the dishes that were served but, in particular, in the guests that attended the event. Attendees represented individuals from various backgrounds and walks of life; many originating from the Middle East, East and South Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and South America. Individuals from many faiths were represented including Catholics, Lutherans, Jews, Buddhists, Methodists, among others. There were also community leaders and many young people who attended.

The 2014 Paralyzed Veterans of America Partner Conference was held in Washington, DC, April 22-23, 2014. On April 22, participants attended a Washington Nationals baseball game. The remainder of the event was held April 23 at the offices of Holland & Knight. Keynote speaker was Patrick Murphy, Veteran, Former PA congressman, from “Taking the Hill" on MSNBC.

The Ponte Luís I was inaugurated in 1886 and designed by Théophile Seyrig, the former partner of Gustave Eiffel. In 2003 the Ponte do Infante was opened as replacement for the road traffic on the upper deck. The Ponte Luís I got a major overhaul and the upper deck is since 2005 used by the trams of the "Metro do Porto". Pedestrians are allowed to use the upper deck, but all road traffic is abandoned. The lower deck is still used by road traffic.

Direct Relief has provided medical material assistance to Ecuador, focusing on strengthening healthcare systems and maternal-child health.
Direct Relief’s partners in Ecuador include Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil, a group of five nonprofit hospitals in Ecuador’s most populous city. Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil includes specialty children’s, psychiatric, and maternity hospitals along with its general service hospitals. It has been in operation since the late 1800s and serves many of the poorest people in Ecuador.

Kathy was recently doing a lesson on maps and had brought in some from Disneyland when she asked her first graders if any of them could find Mickey Mouse. One said, "There he is ... with that man!"

Statement for Sun Street Printing Works, Keighley, dated 30th September 1940. Sent to the Lees Methodist Church Trust Fund c/o Walter Greenwood.
Sun Street Printing Works were founded by Herbert Scargill in the early 1920s. The business was effectively partnered with Keighley Paper Mills at the same site. They were initially located at 4 Sun Street having, it appears, taken over the premises of stationer, printer and postcard publisher John Overend. Sun Street Printing Works were printers of commercial and publicity leaflets, booklets, posters and other assorted paper stationery. Although the premises were owned by Herbert Scargill, it appears that much of the running was left to his second son R. Lewis Scargill.
According to Companies House records, the company became incorporated as Sun Street Printing Works (Keighley) Ltd. on 26th February 1942 (the company name was also sometimes written as Sunstreet Printing Works). The company relocated to No. 1 Factory on East Parade in the 1960s, where it occupied former Great Northern Railway goods sheds (Keighley Paper Mills Ltd. occupied No. 2 Factory). Sun Street Printing Works (Keighley) Ltd. was registered with Companies House until 2nd February 2001 with the company finally dissolved in 2019.
Examples of items produced by Sun Street Printing Works held in the History Society archive include an advertising brochure for new housing at ‘Sunny Hill Garden City’ from the late 1920s, theatre programmes for productions at the Hippodrome theatre in 1933 and 1947, and a Festival of Remembrance Official Souvenir Programme for an event held at the Ritz Cinema in November 1938.
Herbert Scargill had been born in Alverthorpe near Wakefield but relocated to Oakworth in his youth. He married and had two sons, although his oldest son Sam died in 1927. Alongside the printing business, he worked in journalism, firstly as the Cross Roads and Lees correspondent for the Keighley Herald (which operated between 1873 and 1911) and then, for forty years, as the manager of the Keighley office of the Telegraph and Argus. At the time of his death in July 1950 he was chairman of various printing companies: Sun Street Printing Works (Keighley) Ltd., Keighley Paper Mills Ltd., Watkinson & Sons Ltd., and W. G. Cooper Ltd. in Bradford. In all of these businesses he was assisted by his younger son Lewis.

For their second day on the program, the ladies visited the Womens Basketball Hall of Fame. At the facility they played some wake up games and then toured the museum. After this, they enjoyed a luncheon and panel where they shared a little about themselves and heard a wonderful message from olympic swimmer Kate Ziegler. After the wonderful meal, the girls gathered for a time of curriculum to begin thinking about the state of women and sports in their communities.

Mr. Andy Luo, Partner, Dentons, Ningbo, China, speaks on "Navigating Trade Secret Systems in the Changing IP and Innovation Environment" at the WIPO Symposium on Trade Secrets and Innovation.
Taking place at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva and virtually from May 23-24, 2022, the Symposium explored the role of trade secrets and innovation from policy, legal and business perspectives.
It also took a closer look at how patent systems, trade secret systems and others are intertwined in knowledge creation and dissemination in the wider context of the intellectual property (IP) system. Discussions on topical issues addressed how digital information is increasingly driving the international innovation ecosystem – and the role of trade secrets in the development and dissemination of medical technologies.
