Inside Ciutat Vella (old town) and on the way from the cathedral to Santa Maria del Mar, turn onto the carrer del Sotstinent Navarro towards the Muralla Romana (Roman Walls) and the Palau Requesens - the home of the Royal Academy of Letters in Plaça d'Emili Vilanova.
But (there's always a "but") when I got there, I turned my back on all these wonders, admiring the harmony of the two buildings facing the plaza.
On the right is the Casa Santana i Soler, built between 1918 and 1921 by architect Albert Joan i Torner.
I couldn't find any information about the "partner" building on the left, but I'm pretty sure it would be very lonely if either were missing.

Sky — Barbara's Merl — has this lovable habit of putting his paw on the ball to entice you into play. When you show him you're ready, he let's go and sometimes even gives it a forward nudge before getting into his own 'I'm ready', characteristic border collie pre-pounce pose. He's a dream dog.

Excerpt from “A Short Walking Tour of the Yates Street Heritage District”:
29 Yates Street was constructed in 1854 for Thomas B. Bate, also of the Thomas & Bate Brewing Company. It was owned by the Bate family until 1935 when it was purchased by Henry T. Taylor, a descendant of Bate’s partner James Taylor. The house has contained several apartments since that time. It was built in the Classic Revival style as shown by its detailed eaves line and rectangular windows with shutters. The entrance portico, however, is distinctly Italianate, projecting from the façade of the building. It has been enclosed recently with curved doors matching the arched opening.

… in the early 1980s, field biologists began to notice a pattern in the Red Desert of Wyoming. More so than we find elsewhere, in the Red Desert, wild horses tend to form family bands with two stallions present, as opposed to one.
In his 2020 book, Becoming Wild, Carl Safina explains that social animals, “learn from their elders … who they were born to be.” He goes on to suggest, “They must learn local quirks, how to make a living, and how to communicate effectively in a particular place among their particular group.”
In localized contexts, horses establish, and they maintain, a set of norms or rules around kinship networks. In the Red Desert, families often include a dominant stallion and a “lieutenant” that serves a variety of roles: watch-dog and protector, chief among them.
Band stallions and lieutenants usually get along, but not always. In this case, the dappled gray had to set his partner straight. No harm done, however. No injuries sustained. The family remains intact today.
