In 14 March there was a total lunar eclipse in the Americas, but in Western Europe it was way less.
It was much cloudier then forecasted, but to my luck all of a sudden the moon popped up behind the clouds, resulting is this shot. After about 2 minutes the view was gone. What made it special for me was that the moon set, while from behind the sun slowly appeared above the horizon.
The partial lunar eclipse as seen from near the Mausoleum Rotenberg. We couldn't stay inside the areal of the Mausoleum, because the guard advised us to leaf at 9pm, just when it started!
I definitively need to upgrade my telephoto lenses from the Tokina 80-210mm f4.0-5.6 ais one I have...
The Harvest Full Moon coincided with a partial lunar eclipse early this morning. Hand held from my back garden during a brief break in the clouds.
The last SuperMoon of 2020 just before disappearing behind cloud, 7 May 2020. May's moon is traditionally known as the 'Flower moon', as it coincides with spring blossoms in the northern hemisphere.
We were not in the correct geographical area to witness the solar eclipse so I decided to create an eggstra-terrestrial tribute.
I’m not sure why I selected this as my best shot of the year - after a good flip through my output this year it just seemed to be the most interestingly unique while also being a shot that I would recognise as being shot by me in a line up of others!
It would have been amazing seeing this week’s total solar eclipse from Exmouth in Western Australia. From my location on the southeast coast of Australia, though, the event was a partial eclipse, meaning the Moon’s path between the Sun and my viewing position only obscured a small portion of the Sun’s disc. Unfortunately, the eclipse was partial for me in another sense. Clouds covered the sky for nearly ninety of the one hundred and twenty minutes of the eclipse.
When the clouds thinned out, I got a few images, including this one shot at the point of maximum eclipse. The clouds gave the Sun its mottled look and possibly made this a more interesting photo. In the enlarged inset, you can see the sunspot area known as AR3282, and the two large blobs at either end of this feature are about the same size as the Earth.
I’d hoped for better–and more–shots than I captured, but something’s better than nothing, right? I captured this photo with a Canon EOS 6D Mk II camera attached to my SkyWatcher 8” Dobsonian telescope—with a Thousand Oaks solar filter fitted—using an exposure time of 1/160 second @ ISO 800.
I thought I was getting through my summer frog pictures but stumbled on a new one in the garden today so I guess it's back to editing.
The bridge "ponte romano" also called "dei salti" (jump bridge) crosses the Verzasca and Lavertezzo river and is a typical medieval construction made of stone. After its partial destruction occured in 1868 it has been reconstructed in 1960. Close to the bridge you can admire a Chapel from the XVIII century.
Partial face for this weeks challange....I'd like to see the whole face, as a full time nurse we are still masked , and I am tired of not seeing my patients mouth smiles . This is our youngest son Jack graduation June 202 0, a very unusual graduation, as it was held at the fair grounds , parents were in cars, not allowed go more then 1 foot from their car , the graduates walked through the cars to the grandstand and sat 8 feet apart from one another. Once they received their diploma they went to their parents car , as they did not want the kids to toss their caps or hug each other. A nice surprise was a full fire work display , as the last kid graduated.
A partially burned limb from one of our nearby wildfires. The burning enhanced the lines of the woodgrain.
