Tomorrow I'm headed to Oregon to ride 137 miles around Mt. Hood. We'll be traveling from hut to hut and will have to carry everything we need besides dinner on our backs. After cramming all this stuff in, I still need to find room to carry 3 liters of water.

There were so many packing peanuts it took me 20 minutes to get them all out.
The trunk of the Prius with the telescope gear packed.
What can be seen are the tripod legs, head, and mini-pier of the Losmandy G11. Also visible is the folded GM8. Hiding behind and underneath the fan is the SV4 with the Pentax DSLR that I use for digital work.
With the telescope gear in place, the rest of the empty space was filled with blankets, towels, and sleeping bag.

Tropical Storm Mahasen hit parts of southern Bangladesh on 16 May. Plan has been on the ground helping communities prepare for the storm and working with partners on the response.
This flight, our second-to-last of the day, was a bit of a disaster. First, the ignitor was a dud. So we had to wait 60 seconds and then figure out what was up. When we finally got a new one put in, we sent it up and the parachute didn't deploy--it separated from the rocket, and probably ended up in Connecticut. Oh well. I'm gonna make a new one! And the rocket itself was none the worse for wear...we'll shoot it off again next time.
