We follow a similar routine every morning, which includes spending about an hour packing medicines and vitamins for the day's clinic. These are all donated, and include painkillers, medicine for acid reflux, allergies, hypertension, some antibiotics, vitamin and mineral supplements. Often the medicine is inadequate when compared to our modern first world hospitals, but for these people it's the only choice they have.

I need to get some regular colored pencils...I tried using a bit of color on this...but since the are watercolor pencils, it mostly washed away with the paper of course.
When we got the second box out of the first, I asked Erin, "What if there's another box inside this one?" She said, "I'll be really pissed."
She was.
When you let your polar bear do the packing you get some suprises when you open the suitcase at your destination.
I'm very excited! We're leaving at about 9:30 tomorrow morning for Cycle Oregon. This year's route looks outstanding: we'll start in Sisters, ride to La Pine, then Diamond Lake, up and around Crater Lake and then overnight again at Diamond Lake, northwest to Dorena Lake, Dorena Lake to Oakridge, up to Rainbow, and ending up back at Sisters. Seven days of riding & seven nights of camping with 2,000 friends! cycleoregon.com/default_week.htm
Mail-order cheeses came packed in crinkled paper with a few colorfully-wrapped candies tossed in. It's a small thing, but it made unpacking the box a lot of fun.

I'm moving in 3 weeks and I finally started packing! When I moved here, I had 12 boxes worth of stuff... I've acquired a lot of stuff since and I'll have to downsize!

I swear I'm NOT an amenity bag hoarder. They work perfectly as "packing cubes". Makes things easy, neat and tidy.
This gentleman had more than one fishing rod on the go and a bright red pail to stash his fish in. I enjoy candid images of people going about their daily activities and so I was fortunate to get this shot of this fellow packing up his fishing gear as the sun was beginning to set.
As always, better on black. Please click 'L'.

The Seattle Flickrites have a weekly challenge for a topic, and this week is 'Heat.' Many people will not remember that 'Heat' is a term used for a firearm, often called a 'Heater.' So, 'Packing Heat' means you would be carrying a concealed weapon.
My weapon of choice in this shoot was a Rock Island Armory Match Grade 1911-A1 semi-auto pistol. It carries 8 rounds in the magazine and 'one in the pipe.'
Strobist info:

This is my friend Steve Kaposy packing up his drums at the end of our spontaneous bistro gig/birthday party. It was Steve's sister Carolines birthday and my friend Yiorgos and I were invited to bring guitar and keys to play at this little bistro in the West End on Denman Street.
It turned out to be a friendly and charming little place and Caroline sang and Yiorgos and I kept up by the seat of our pants. We had cake and Jagermeister shooters and the owner and staff at the bistro and the regulars who dropped in were just a gas...
But the highlight of the evening was playing with Steve. He's just an awesome drummer, even playing quiet lounge type stuff his time is snappy and precise and his playing so fluid, deft and playful.
He has a really nice old 1968 Ludwig kit with the old 'Ringo' style logo on the bass drum head.
"My kit is older than me" he laughed.
What a nice time.
