Our daily challenge - Pieces

Note for my wife: I'll put the pieces back in a minute :-))

Pieces Missing

I SEE questions ever present,

And a mind that"s never sure.

I SEE doubt, ever unpleasant,

Ever wondering at the cure.

2013

Day 133/365

Most of my life I’ve felt like some aspect of my being is lagging behind, my body, heart, mind, or spirit not able to keep up with the rest. I realized that’s not the case right now. All my layers are moving in harmony, like the strings of a piano when you hit a major chord.

I choose my feet this morning because I don't sit and admire them by no means and if I did think more of them maybe the polish wouldn't be two months old however these feet have done me good, they have completed three marathons, they have walked so many miles I haven't a clue what number to even type. These feet are attached to my ankles, my legs and so on. I have had such a strong hate for my legs and ankles since I was so young. In school I was in tall flags and we wore high white gogo boots, I was one of the girls who could fill in the whole boot, snug even at 115 pounds my legs were substantial. My dad called me tree truck legs. However today at age 41, almost 42 I realize I'm blessed with these legs, I can walk and I they are very strong. I'm ready to respect these legs and ankles attached to my faithful feet. I almost didn't choose this one because you can see my ankles and how with my socks they indent because they retain water and leave indentions but I need to take these steps to embrace even what I have always hated so today I even show you my ankles. I took 37 pictures of my feet this morning…thirty-seven!!

Looking through the lens I found this little picture.

To some vintage mid-century game. Unknown illustrator. Any idea as to what game this is, I'd love to know!

UPDATE: From "Go To The Head of The Class", thanks to Eartha Kitsch! Many thanks, dearie!

The Giant Moa of New Zealand. Extinct now, Dinornis giganticus was the largest of the species standing about 3.5m high. Early settlers of New Zealand would try to "find" the tallest specimens by piecing together multiple skeletons. They would cobble together "new" species by adding additional neck vertebrae!

A rusty old Audi army vehicle at the war vehicle hoarders in Belgium.

A large collection of army vehicles bought by a private collector and left to rot in fields and forests of Belgium.

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this Audi - it may have been some kind off army staff transport?

Samyang 8mm Fisheye lens.

They are SO fascinating! Easily my favorites in my yard....:)

From my last shooting with Natasha. The model is lighted from the left by a diffused deported flash and from the front by the diffused pop-up flash.

He wants to pick up these broken pieces

and glue them back together

He wants to know these wounds and scars

and heal it altogether

And these are the skills,

that she has been trying to master

For all the years,

that was what mattered.

Little did she know,

with every scar cut open -

another was being stitched back together.

..... or rather pieces of cake ! ;o)) LOL

This pirate skull cake is taken from the wonderful Debbie Brown's new book "Gorgeous and Gruesome".

It is a belated birthday cake for our future son-law Ben who loves pirates and whose birthday was actually at the end of November while we were in Florida. Then of course Christmas got in the way and here we are in the next year and he still hadn't had a cake !

As we were meeting up with Catherine and Ben today at the wedding caterers for a menu tasting, it seemed the perfect opportunity to make this cake for him ! He loved it !

It was made rather quickly yesterday afternoon / evening and I would really have liked to have spent a lot more time on it but I didn't have that luxury ! I did put a few of my own bits on it but it's basically the cake that is in the book ..... but not so well done !

I'm actually rather pleased with it apart from the nose which should really be a bit bigger and higher up his face, as it is in the book. Perhaps that's why he died ...... he couldn't breathe properly ! ;o)) LOL

Madeira cake with coffee buttercream and covered in fondant. All decorations are edible apart from the sparkly "diamonds".

the ingredients for a sashiko|linen|knitted cushion

I picked up a bunch of Pinky pieces that included all three series 9 heads, so I made three new Pinkys for me. The bunny body also came in the bunch, so I just put a head on it, the Wild Arms body pieces also came with the skirt, but I didn't like it, so I painted the panties blue to look like little shorts. The gray legs were included, so I put Ringo's extra body & glasses with it. I wish I had an extra skirt (the Wild Arms one doesn't work), but I don't, so I'm just going to pretend she's wearing leggings. Since they didn't have names, I named them after the days of the week the series 9 dolls were from. From the left they're Sunday, Monday, & Friday :-)

The lot of stuff also included Wild Arms heads, but they don't have a neck piece. Anyone have any idea of what to do with them?
