The partially collapsed, abandoned coal loading jetty at Catherine Hill Bay, NSW. Recent bushfires destroyed the older timber sections of the jetty, leaving only a newer concrete & steel section to connect it to the headland.
As I sat at my PC this morning contemplating what I might do for the next couple of ODC challenge topics, I glanced down and realized that the answer was right beside me. I usually have a fruit snack with my coffee for breakfast while I am commenting on images from my Flickr contacts and friends. This morning, that snack was orange slices cut into easy bite-sized pieces.

I photographed this clock face some time ago and have used it in other designs...well, the overall design potential just keeps on ticking in my head....like creativity itself.
Thought I'd venture out into our 'winter wonderland'... We didn't actually get snow but it did freeze a little bit. There was a layer of ice on top of the recycle bin (it collects water whenever it rains). When I lifted it, the water sloshed, scared me, I dropped the lid and the ice broke into pieces...
Our Daily Challenge: pieces
i'm coming apart
a mechanism
of little wheels
and squeeking
springs
suddenly breaking down
each part running
out of sync with others
uncontrollable
i fly to pieces

As the sun rose over glacial peaks near Jokulsarlon lagoon, I groggily grabbed my gear and crossed the black sand and a narrow bridge to arrive on the ice-strewn shore. As brilliant orange-red light struck the countless chunks of glacier, I knew that I would never again see something so uniquely beautiful.
