Early peas at the farmers' market...nice and simple. While my daughter shelled them all and had a great time, in the end she politely declined to actually eat one. :)

The structures standing in the water are an old gunnery emplacement from the Second World War and not something from a H G Wells novel.
No where to run on that posting.

I took this photo on a hike at the Pea Ridge Military Park. I looked in a guide book when I got home and I am pretty sure this is a very poisonous mushroom.

The children ate the first peas of the year. They went down slightly better than the first broad beans
:D
I don't know what you did after work, but I shucked peas and favas with my husband. As usual, he was neat and organized about it and when I peeled back their skins, peas went flying, I'd reach to pick them up and squish one under my flip-flop. What can I say? He's just more civilized than I am. Or maybe patient.
This is a peas roti, made from green pigeon peas, cooked, mashed, seasoned and stuffed inside the dough before it's rolled out and made into roti. We generally make and are used to dhalpuri (made with yellow split peas the same way) in Trinidad, particularly commerically. But many homes in Trinidad make peas puri or peas roti also. The way they make peas dhal!
