Play Well
(October 2019 — March 2020)
‘Play Well’ explores how play transforms both childhood and society. Using displays of historic toys and games, artworks and design, this exhibition investigates how play develops social bonds, emotional resilience and physical wellbeing. The exhibition includes: images of children at play in the street, in playgrounds and beyond; makeshift and commercially produced toys; digital games and a larp (live-action role play) space by artist Adam James.

The new garden box around the mailbox looks great (of course I now realize I don't have an overall view of it.) This purple pea vine is all over the place and blooming beautiful purple orchid like flowers. I just noticed today that it has a purple pea on it!

The Coral shell peas are getting actual peapods on them! And this afternoon we did a lot of seedling sorting and planning while gray clouds billowed overhead... and when we finished the setting sun appeared with a syrupy sunbeam directly on the peas. So how could I not take ten thousand of the same picture?

On the left are my "Mammoth Melting Sugar" snow peas, an heirloom variety I am trying for the first time. As you can see they are already to the top of the two-metre poles and netting. On the right are much shorter "regular" sugar snap peas that I have been eating whole and raw, as I am worried about losing their sweet flavour if I cook them ...
The peas came early and in a flurry this year. I like how you can still see the flower scrunched up at the bottom of the pea and bits of it up on top.
