On our deck garden, our pea plants didn't have enough upward climbing opportunities, so they intertwined themselves.
During our Environment Unit we tested the water tolerance of 4 different types of plant seeds - barley, radish, corn and pea.
We planted 3 seeds of each plant into 4 containers. Everything was kept the same except we add different amounts of water to each container. One container had no water, and contained dry soil, one container we added moist soil but no water. We added 40mls of water to one container and 80mls of water to the last container. We also had one class container labeled swamp - it had 120ml of water added to it. All containers were sealed in zip-lock bags.

In German, the word for garbanzo bean or chick pea (Cicer arietinum) is die Kichererbse, literally, "gigglepea."
There's so many different pea flowers that start coming out late winter/early spring. And here's a different one that should be relatively easy to identify from the flower books. But i'd have to get up to get the books. And i can't ID it online at the moment. So. It shall remain anon for the moment. Perhaps forever!

We can't get enough peas around here. Mostly snap peas but these were shell peas that someone else shelled by hand. Sweet! The only problem is, you have to cook them ASAP or your peas won't be so sweet.
We roast our chickens in a cast iron pan and the leftover dripping are intense. We always scrape and save them and we call it the "chicken nugget". So , I cooked these in some of that chicken yumminess with some onions,black pepper, mint and touch of black currant vinegar. This was my snack while I made the stew.
transplanted the second batch of 'Alaska' peas outside today. their lovely stalks were getting heavy and needed staking.
I was too lazy to tear down my pea trellis right away and the peas decided to flower and set pods again even though most of the plants are yellow and dry. weird.
Saw my old friend and favorite girl Sweet Pea today when I worked at our shelter in the Houston Heights. She came running to see me when she heard my voice!
