Nine Leyland Titan PD2/9 buses were acquired by St. Helens Corporation in 1954. These had bodywork built by D.J. Davies, and were unusual in being specially modified to gain
an overall height of 14ft 3 & 1/4 ins. Normal seating was fitted on both decks and the gangways were slightly sunken. All survived until 1965 when 78 (CDJ 878) became a driver trainer. At an unknown later date it passed into preservation. Here it is seen safely undercover at the St. Helens Transport Museum on June 19th 1994.
Preserved ex-North Western 224, CDB224 a Leyland PD2/1 with Leyland L53R body, new in 1947, now privately owned but part of the Manchester Museum of Transport collection.
It was converted to driver training in 1965, survived into Selnec in 1972 before being sold into preservation two years later.
Seen at the Leyland PD2 60th anniversary event at the Museum of Transport, Manchester.
Taken on Wednesday 15th June using the Hipstamatic app for the iPod Touch, the one on the left (NBU 494) is Oldham Corporation's Titan PD2/20, bodied by Roe and was new in 1957.
The one facing this view (TNA 496) is a Leyland Titan PD2/40 which was new in February 1958 and bodied by Burlingham.

Three of the ex Walsall 1953 Leyland PD2/12 / Roe buses received WMPTE livery, here is 818L at Birchills garage in 1973.
On the far left is TXV906 an Ex London Transport tower wagon used in connection with trolleybus operation in Walsall until October 1970 after that used as a towing wagon for buses.
Behind it is a Guy Arab / Park Royal, 230L in use as a trainer.

KLB915 one of a batch of 500 wide bodied RT's designated RTW new in October 1949 as RTW185.
Queen Mary 972 CUF (former Southdown MS 972). A Leyland PD3/4 with FH39/30F Northern Counties body, new June 1964.
XHO370 1960 AEC Reliance with Weymann bodywork Aldershot & District 370.

FFY403 Leyland PD2 had her first Public Running today for her new owners, the English Riviera Sightseeing Tours group, based in Torquay. FFY403 was new in 1947 to Southport Corporation, as 86, and was transferred to Merseyside PTE in 1974 and numbered 186. Last record I can find is a picture in Halifax in 2008. Anyone have anymore recent news ? Seen here at Torquay Harbourside. 12th July 2013. I was told that this Leyland will oly be working twice per week on Mondays & Fridays, until end of September

Notes: A member of the last batch of Leyland bodied buses supplied to Ribble. The flush windowed design (Often erroneously referred to as the 'Farington' design) was Ribble's final version of a body that had evolved only slightly since the mid 1930's. The kit is modified by the addition of rear platform doors and emergency exit. Superb advert transfers are by Frank Howard.
Stevenson's ex Burnley and Pendle Leyland PD2 neatly converted into a tree-lopper and towing vehicle, seem to remember this had recently replaced a AEC Regent V for these duties.

This is the bus I passed my PSV driving test in.
It was run by Wallace Transport who were based in Shepherds Bush, London. Date was 1983.

Seen at Showbus in 2013 at the Long Marston airfield is ex-Midland Red no.4031, SHA 431, a 1953 Leyland PD2 with Leyland H31/26R body.

New in February 1968 to Stockport Corporation as 71, this is an East Lancs-bodied Leyland Titan PD2 which is preserved in the 1974-1980 GMT livery as a reminder of the bus scene in Greater Manchester in the 1970s and early 1980s.
This one was withdrawn in 1981 by Greater Manchester Transport
Seen at Doningnton Park whilst attending Showbus 2016 are ex-Leicester City Transport Leyland Titans: no.164, TBC 164, with Willowbrook Bodywork and no.154, FJF 193 with attractive Leyland Bodywork.
LRV992 Leyland PD2/12 with Metro-Cammell H30/26R body new in April 1956 as Portsmouth Corporation No 100, converted to open top and renumbered No 2.

Notes :- New to Glasgow Corporation Transport as their L163, 10/1958 and allocated to Parkhead garage. it would pass to the newly formed Greater Glasgow PTE in 1973. Withdrawn in 1976 but remained with the PTE as a depot shunter until finally passing in to preservation in 1980.
In 2003 it returned to service as a tour bus with Glasgow Corporation Transport Ltd and latter with First after the business was purchased by them. Here it was officially allocated national fleet number 39997 but carried PD3 on the bus. It re-entered preservation in 2006 with current owners Glasgow City Council and is housed at GVVT's Bridgton Bus Depot in Glasgow.
