and I can't even spell it!
For this week's photo challenge, "leaves...no matter what season you're in, capture a picture centered around a leafy theme". I have traveled the backroads to town to cemeteries to my own back yard. Shots of leaves. Everything from a single leaf with water drops (thanks to a spritzer) to a forest full of them...sun shining through, sun shining on...Creative?....nada... been done before!!!!!! (This just wasn't my week but I have a lot of pictures of leaves.)
SO, if you would like to see some real creativity... check this out! A link to the group site.
Kleman Plaza is an underground garage located northwest of the Capitol. Entrances are located on Duval Street and Bronough Street. The Eastside Parking Garage is located on Calhoun Street, and the entrance is on Calhoun Street. Cost information for city-owned parking facilities can found on the City of Tallahassee's website.
Visitor parking in the Capitol area is limited to either metered street spaces or designated lots. The City of Tallahassee manages two parking garages (Kleman Plaza and Eastside Parking Garage) and one surface lot (near Duval and Gaines). The Department of Management Services (DMS) manages two lots (Lot E and Lot 4). Spaces for visitors with disabilities are located on the west side of the House Office Building in the north side loading zone. There are more spaces located in the parking lot south of the Knott Building. If you're parking outside these lots in a non-metered spot, please ensure that the spot is marked for visitor parking. Cars parked in employee spaces will be towed.

I reworked just my own images of NGC 4565 for this final result. Back in February 2016 my data was used in collaboration with Terry Hancock and POSS-II to create this image: (flic.kr/p/DQ37oA).
The Needle Galaxy is a prime example of an edge-on spiral galaxy meaning that based on our vantage point we are looking at the edge of it's massive spiral arms towards its bright core. In our night sky it's located to the north of our celestial equator, or the imaginary line pointing outward from the Earth's equator relative to the north pole in the constellation Coma Berenices and is in the night sky during the winter months. In relation to our galaxy it is located directly above the north galactic pole of the Milky Way in the same way as Polaris the north star sits above Earth's north celestial pole.
The Needle Galaxy is more luminous than the Andromeda galaxy and if it were in a different orientation with it's full structure visible it would be an even more dramatic view than the one we have. It was first observed by William Herschel in 1785 and is considered one of the most stunning examples of an edge-on galaxy, interestingly Charles Messier missed in his famous Messier Catalog.

Photo of the new Maderuelo bridge, over the water of the Linares reservoir, which is fed by the Riaza river.
On the left you can see some people rowing and on the right the unsubmerged part of the medieval bridge, which in times of drought, the water level drops and that bridge can be seen perfectly.
Maderuelo is a beautiful town in the province of Segovia, Spain, which maintains reminiscences of its medieval past.
I would never call myself a car nut or car enthusiast, to be honest. A friend and I saw an advert for a car show some time back and we decided it was a good way to spend a warm Sunday afternoon. Our very first time at a vintage car show and it didn't disappoint.
So I have decided to start doing more things outside of my regular comfort zone. Never in a million years did I think about cars as a subject but trying something new is always Let's see how that goes. My blog post explains in a bit more detail and I've included the link to it in this caption.
I am so proud of this one, guys. Because this isn't the original image. This is actually a composite because I removed the background which was full of cars and people and changed the boring sky to this gorgeous blue. It's not perfect But I'm happy for the practice. Sometimes, you have to make your own reality....know what I mean? It's more about the craft and the feeling sometimes. ;)
To all of you, enjoy the weekend and have an awesome week ahead, wherever you are!

This picture of my own car was taken by my neighbor's kid at a local auto show. He took my camera and pictured most cars that were there. He's 10 years old but he took some nice pictures! I was surprised when I looked at them.
Quick pic of one of the two new releases from Curio. I had to play around with some different shapes, to get the nose looking as neat as I wished ending up with this one which is Bebe from Juicy, but I am absolutely in love with the lips on this skin.
I know it's not 'best practice' to use a hair with a fringe when picturing a new skin, but /shrug tis my picture made for my own amusement, so 'ner ner ner ner ner' to that =D
Picture's a little photoshopped, but not heavily so.

It's amazing how fast photography is changing. I never gave HDR a thought until just under a year ago when I used my own car for my first HDR experiment on Jan.1st of this year. This photo now just happens to be my #1 most viewed photo at about 50,000 views (mostly because of you do a search for HDR it's usually the #1 or #2 most relevant photo).
And this photo is another in the series I did with my work buddy Jeff. The original Viper photo I posted is now my #1 most interesting photo of all time.
And according to my most interesting photos, the top 14 shots are all HDR shots, all taken this year. My previous #1 shot held that position since I initially posted it over 2 years ago. This was when I was at my peak of doing night-time long exposure shots. At that point, my photography was all about going out somewhere random late at night and taking long exposures at night. I also had my times doing tilt shift miniture fakes and using toy cameras for another way of looking at things as well as using textures to help enhance a photo.
What I'm getting at is that these fads come and go. Who knows what will be next? Years and years ago, improvements in photography came at the advances in use of film, and better lenses, and artificial lighting, but these came at a rate of every few years.
My next goal is to obtain and use slip-in filters to create more natural, even exposures.
I know a lot of people going back to film and understanding the original principles of what makes an out-of-the-camera photo more interesting. I think if we all strive to start there, we'll need to do a lot less enhancing to obtain Explore greatness.. or even the accolades from our peers.
Happy rainy Monday. I hope most of you have all your shopping done.
On the way to Milford Sound this spectacular and amazing mirror lake is beside the road. We are very blessed to have this in our beautiful country of New Zealand
Firle Place is a Manor house in Firle, East Sussex, United Kingdom and is the family seat of Nicolas Gage, 8th Viscount Gage, whose family the Viscounts Gage have owned the land at Firle since acquiring it from the Levett family in the 15th century. The manor house was first built in the late 15th century by Sir John Gage, who made Firle Place his principal home. He held many high offices, including Constable of the Tower and was an executor of Henry VIII's will.
The external cladding of the building is Georgian, using Caen Stone to make it look like a classical French Chateau. This work was completed by Sir William Gage, 7th Baronet who inherited the house in 1713 and the house is set in typically open parkland. The interior of the house however is Tudor in style and circulates around a central courtyard. The house has an extensive collection of paintings, porcelain and furniture, including works by Gainsborough, Reynolds, Van Dyck, Raphael, Puligo, Zoffany and Teniers.
During World War I, students from the nearby Southover Manor School in Lewes were housed here, and during World War II, Canadian soldiers were quartered here.
Open to the public during the summer months, the house and grounds area also used as a film and television location, it has featured in shows, including the BBC's Jonathan Creek and the three-part miniseries The Line of Beauty. BBC's Bake Off Creme de la Creme Series 2 which aired in 2017.
Since the 15th century the Gages have lived at Firle, following the marriage of William Gage to Agnes Bolney whose family had previously owned the seat at Firle. (The Bolneys held the lordship of Firle briefly after acquiring it from the bankrupt lord of the manor Thomas Levett.) This holding was further expanded by their son Sir John Gage who inherited land belonging to his father-in-law, Sir Thomas St Clere. In 1479 a second John Gage was born and it was he who became the ward to the Duke of Buckingham when his father died in 1497.
Sir John became quite prominent at the court of King Henry VIII and even accompanied the king on an expedition to France. Following such campaigns and his competence in battle he was appointed Vice-Chamberlain to the King. Sir John also served as a key figure in the dissolution of the monasteries in Sussex, despite the fact that he remained a Catholic.
Sir John's son, Edward, later became a Knight of the Bath and the Sheriff of Sussex and in 1556 oversaw the execution of the 17 "Sussex Martyrs" during the Marian Persecutions of 1555–57.
The Gage Baronet was created by John Gage (d. 1633) in 1622. The 7th Baronet, Sir William Gage (1695–1744), was notable for his interest in cricket, particularly in Sussex. It is often thought that beginnings of what is now Firle Cricket Club started with Sir William. In 1754 this Baronet title was raised by Irish-born Thomas Gage to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Gage and Viscount Gage.
Another notable Gage is General Thomas Gage who was made Commander in Chief of the British forces in North America. However, following the outbreak of the American War of Independence, he was relatively successful but after disastrous losses at Battle of Bunker Hill he was replaced. His son, also called Thomas Gage (1781–1820), following what was now a family tradition was a botanist and traveller and had the Gagea genus of flower named after him.
The current Viscount Gage, Henry Nicholas Gage, lives at Firle. For more information please visit en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firle_Place and firle.com/

Now owned by the National Trust, Seaton Delaval Hall was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh (who died two years before it was finally completed in 1728). A devastating fire badly damaged the main part of the building in 1822 and it lay open to the elements for nearly 40 years before the roof was reinstated. The interior of the main part of the building is still an empty shell.

This object is found within our own galaxy, located some 5,200 light-years from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. This means that the best time of year to observe M8 is during the months of July to August. The common name of NGC6523 is the Lagoon Nebula, as its shape and appearance resembles that of a pond of a star-forming interstellar cloud and gas. The Lagoon Nebula, M8, was discovered in 1654 by the Italian astronomer Giovanni Battista Hodierna, who, like Charles Messier, sought to catalog nebulous objects in the night sky so they would not be mistaken for comets. Its apparent magnitude, brightness, of 6 makes it faintly visible to the naked eye in dark skies.
