We taught a special robot class for adults and teens at Tam Makers, to show them how to create their own artistic robot. This 2-part evening course took took place in our makerspace at Tam High School in Mill Valley.
Our four students learned how to build their bots from scratch, then make them move in a different ways, using a programmable Arduino board. Each student received their own robot kit, which they learned to assemble and control. They first built a chassis, then wired up the electronics, assembled a remote control, then added a head and arms, with servo motors to make them move.
They then took their completed robots home with them, after the class ended. Now that their bots are assembled and operational, we hope they will learn how to program them and make them move in different ways. We have invited them to join our weekly Maker Club workshops on Thursdays, so we can coach them on how to keep improving their bots.
For this course, my partner Edward Janne and I created our own robot kit, using an Arduino Feather M0 for the robot, an RF remote, a custom chassis, plus three additional servos and more parts. Our robot kit is similar to commercial products, but with a lot more features, at a lower cost. It was a lot of work, but we’re very happy with the final results, and our students seemed to really enjoy the class. We hope this will encourage other teachers, students and makers to create their own animated characters, for art and technology’s sake.

Restored to flight in 2012 by the Classic Air Force at Coventry, this lovely Proctor is now privately owned. She is painted to represent a Proctor used by the British Embassy in Washington DC.
She is seen taxying in after displaying at the Shuttleworth Collection’s 2022 Steam and Vintage Air Show.

This one wasn't originally apart of the series and honestly I don't remember taking it, but I liked it.
Owning a 1964 Pontiac GTO, over the years I have collected a lot of memorabilia and literature to go along with my car.
This is an very rare dealer sales binder. This is the book you would look at to help you pick out the model and options you wanted. I have another book that goes with this to help you select exterior colors and interior fabric.
What's even more rare about this binder is it contains the pages for the all new GTO model. When this binder was sent to dealers in late 1963 the GTO information was not yet ready and was sent to dealers to add later. Often it never made it into the book. I will be posting the GTO pages shortly.

SUDDEN DEATH IN A TRAMCAR.
An oldAuckland resident, Mrs O'Connor, who many years ago kept the Eagle Inn, died suddenly this morning while in the tram-car on the way to attend mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. The deceased was born in County Kerry, Ireland, 80 years ago, and has latterly been residing with her son, Mr Maurice O'Connor, licensee of the Waverley Hotel, Queen-street. It was Mrs O'Connors regular custom to catch an early train and attend mass almost every, morning. She appeared quite well when she went out this morning, and stopped on the way to say a pleasant, word to her niece, whom she kissed on leaving the hotel. Outside she met the Rev. Father Cochrane, of Puhoi, and asked, "Will I be in time?" He replied, "It is only ten. minutes, to nine, so you will have plenty of time." Mrs O'Connor then walked across and got in the tram-car quite briskly, considering her years. Presently Mr Rogers, an official of the Tramway Company, drew the attention of the conductor to the old lady, remarking that she looked very ill. As this was in Hobson-street, where Mrs O'Connor was in the habit of getting out, the conductor (Mr Lones) rang the bell twice, and at once went in to see, Mrs O'Connor. She then appeared to be dead. Mr Lysaght at once ordered the car to run back on the single line, which was done, and the tramway officials carried Mrs O'Connor back to the hotel. Dr. Fieldsted, who is a boarder at the hotel, was getting breakfast at the time, and he immediately attended Mrs O'Connor, but, of course, could do nothing. An inquest will not be necessary, as Dr. Fieldsted has given a certificate as to the cause of death. Deceased had a large family, the following children being still living; Mr Maurice O'Connor. Mr T. O'Connor, Mr Daniel O'Connor, Mr J. O'Connor, of Coromandel, Mr John O'Connor; and Mr P. O'Connor. J.P., both fanners in the Waikato. The daughters are Mrs O'Sullivan, Mrs Charles Cooper, Mrs T. F. Leys,. Mrs J. Gallagher, and Mrs Thompson, who resides in Victoria. Deceased was highly respected by a large circle of friends.

MR. MAURICE O'CONNOR.
Mr. Maurice O'Connor, a well-known figure in Auckland, died suddenly this morning at the residence of Mr. T. O'Connor, of the Thames Hotel, Auckland. The late Mr. O'Connor was 67 years of age, and the fourth son of Mr. Daniel O'Connor, of Kileusnan. He was born at Kileusnan, County Kerry and arrived in New Zealand about 43 years ago, and joined the armed constabulary, being one of the party, that took part in the arrest of Te Koott. He was later drafted to Wellington, and from there proceeded to Christchurch, where he was appointed chief detective. From Christchurch he went to Dunedin, where he resigned after about 17 years' service. On arrival in Auckland, he took over the Waverley Hotel, where he resided for about 14 years. He later bought the Thistle Hotel. The late Mr O'Connor was well known in Auckland and took great interest in local affairs and enterprises.

Paul Revere owned the home from 1770 to 1800, After Revere sold the home in 1800, it soon became a tenement, and the ground floor was remodeled for use as shops, including at various times a candy store, cigar factory, bank and vegetable and fruit business. In 1902, Paul Revere's great-grandson, John P. Reynolds Jr. purchased the building to ensure that it would not be demolished. Over the next few years, money was raised, and the Paul Revere Memorial Association formed to preserve and renovate the building. In April 1908, the Paul Revere House opened its doors to the public as one of the earliest historic house museums in the U.S. The Association still oversees the preservation and day-to-day operations of this national treasure

Owned by West Coast Railway Company this vehicle is a MK1 Pullman SP (Pullman Parlour Second) built for Pullman BRE in 1960 by Metro Cammell. This vehicle has also carried the numbers 351 & Car F.
Seen in the formation of 1Z87, a 1410 Carlisle to London Euston Charter. Thankfully, this service was routed via the Settle to Carlisle and therefore avoided the landslip at Lambrigg on the WCML.
I own this Minolta lens MD 1:4 f=17mm since January 2020 but I did not used it too much beside some digital series (as this one : flic.kr/s/aHsmL8WMnJ ) when adapted to one of my Sony A7. The extreme wide-angle rectilinear lens needs some training to adapt during the photographic session. The angle is so wide (104° in the image diagonal) that it requires to turn the head around the scene to imagine the picture possible before framing.
On December 19, 2022, I decided to mount the lens on one of my two Minolta X-700, the "China" version (assembled in China 1993-1999). The camera was also equipped with its motor drive MD1 and the Minolta multi-function back. I loaded the X-700 with a B&W super-panchromatic Rollei Retro 400S (Agfa Aviphot 400) 36-exposure film.
The Agfa Aviphot film used for aerial photography is specially sensitized in the red, up to 780nm in the near IR instead of the regular 650-680 nm limit of a normal panchromatic film. The film provides usually high-definition and high-contrast negative views. What is more the Agfa Aviphot is coated on a thin and flat polyester base without any base color increasing the contrast as well. However to prevent the halation possible the Agfa Aviphot is coated on the backside with a black and blue anti-halation pigment to inhibit the light back diffusion (halation). The printing of data from a data back could be then a problem. I tested here the date print on the first initialization frame setting the intensity to the maximum available on the Minolta multi-function back (there are 6 levels of intensity available). The anti-halation is quite penetrated by the red light of the electro-luminescent diodes and a half intensity may be just enough.
On the almost same photo walk done on December 14, 2022 with my range-finder FOCA PF2B and its normal lens, the film was exposed for 400 ISO in the manual mode following either the Minolta X-700 indications or determining the exposure using my Minolta Autometer III and a 10° finder for selective measurements.

After exposures the film was processed using Adox Adonal (strictly equivalent to Agfa Rodinal) developer at dilution 1+25, 20°C for 10min 30s. The film was then digitalized using a Sony A7 body fitted to a Minolta Slide Duplicator installed on a Minolta Auto Bellows III with a lens Minolta Bellow Macro Rokkor 50mm f/3.5. The RAW files obtained were then processed in LR and finally edited to the final jpeg pictures.
All views of the film are presented in the dedicated album either in the printed framed versions and unframed full-size jpeg.

On September 25th, more than 80 visual artists brought their own projector to Bring Your Own Beamer. SETUP & Het Nederlands Film Festival organized one of the largest editions of this one-night-exhibition the world has ever seen. TivoliVredenburg was transformed into one enormous canvas with tons of media art projected on every surface possible.
Having made some edits, the Paul H. Townsend is on its own one last time without help down the St. Clair River., and past Marysville, Mi.
I don't own the rights to this picture, but i thought i'd use it to let you all know i wont be around for a bit.
My crohns illness has flared up badly in the last 5-6 weeks, and to make matters worse the medication that usually works isn't working.
I'm obviously very worried right now and frightened because i dont know what else i could do to stop the illness.
I'm going to hospital today to have tests and will probably be admitted to a ward for further investigation.
As a result i wont be on or uploading to flickr for a while. Hope you all have a good new year.

A visit to the National Trust owned Flatford Mill in Suffolk.
Flatford Mill is a Grade I listed watermill on the River Stour at Flatford in East Bergholt, Suffolk, England. According to the date-stone the mill was built in 1733, but some of the structure may be earlier. Attached to the mill is a 17th-century miller's cottage which is also Grade I listed. The property is in Dedham Vale, a typically English rural landscape.
The mill was owned by the artist John Constable's father and is noted, along with its immediate surroundings as the location for many of Constable's works. It is referred to in the title of one of his most iconic paintings, Flatford Mill (Scene on a Navigable River), and mentioned in the title or is the subject of several others including: Flatford Mill from a lock on the river Stour; Flatford Mill from the lock (A water mill); The Lock. The Hay Wain, which features Willy Lott's Cottage, was painted from the front of the mill.
The mill is located downstream from Bridge Cottage which, along with neighbouring Valley Farm and Willy Lott's Cottage, are leased to the Field Studies Council, a group that uses them as locations for arts, ecology and natural history based courses.
