Privately owned Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 7029 CLUN CASTLE at Oxley shed on 13th November 1966. Having been withdrawn from service at Gloucester Horton Road in January 1966 it was, by this time, in the ownership of Patrick Whitehouse at the fledgling Tyseley Railway Museum. There I was painting away and I thought I had it! Then I lost it. Then I managed to find it again before taking it too far and then suddenly I was looking at an absolute mess of a picture. Normally I would throw a big hissy fit and rip it up or scrawl over it like some scene out of soap when someone is going a little off the rails- but that wasn’t to be the case.
I made a post on social media about my situation and I got some words of encouragement which made me reassess the picture and carry on, although I thought it something of a loss leader at this point.
Anyway, I’m still not particularly happy with it but just because I painted something I didn’t like doesn’t mean its worthless. We all deserve a second chance. For one I’m learning and beginning to own my mistakes. I just hope the next one doesn’t make me pull what little hair remains...

I returned to my Denver Botanic Gardens series and my quest for the unusual with a couple of pine shots, This one a real hanger and shows the tenacity of life in its least. Surprise, surprise, no telling what this pine might turn into but it surely found a spot of dirt in a crack that's bound to split wider. Time and pressure. Time and pressure.
I've seen this everywhere on display in the Rockies. Often that's the life that grows the strongest in the long run. Egad, how can anyone decide which way it is heading? I'll stick with this series again but my attention always wanders and may switch soon enough for more relief. Last week's"C-temps" would be better for shooting water revelers over at McIntosh Lake instead.
This is another cool-ish spot at the Gardens, a good thing at the time on the Colorado plains as temps hit the Big C today and I sit typing in front of the fan. It's not really that bad; I could otherwise be sitting in Pruett's Alaska and breathing methane as the forests burn?
That day the sun remained softly obscured and it remained reasonably cool before our recent temp blow up and this squirrely shot caught my eye. Egad, I ended up with a real load of Denver garden shots to edit with over 200 snaps in the directory, let alone for everything else in my massive stash. Pictures everywhere and not a single Canada goose infiltrator seen in a Denver park.
This snap is yet another from a recent eDDie trek, this time down to the Denver Botanic Gardens I have passed untold times but never invested my time or ponied up the entrance fee. This path shouts that upkeep here is far from free, but eDDie bought a season pass so I did another round of sponge bobbing at the right price. Boy, this place is loaded with distractions that were made for me! ...and, did I get distracted. Art in the park indeed. Look everywhere to find art; he was missing earlier.
Since the Denver Bo-tonic Gardens trek, I have made more treks and another with eDDie to the Rockies. At least I was able to snag a load of shots on that mellow day. I filled my film card for the first time ever. OK, I was tapped by the time it was filled anyway.
Owned at the time by CFCLA, S311 is stabled at the Islington Workshops on 18-9-14 . The Two CFCLA S class locos had been in South Australia for a while working on hire to Qube working ballast trains and also Balco workings between Bowmans and Outer Harbor.

An acquaintance, who owns a store on Broadway near 180th, saw me coming home last night and asked me for a favor. He'd misplaced his keys, and needed them to close his store. He asked me to stand in front of his store (with the lights out) while he went to check for the keys in a couple of places. After waiting patiently for a while, I finally saw him on his way back--with his keys. He was, speaking on his cell phone--probably sharing the good news with his family.
He's a Muslim, and had to get back home for "suhur," the Ramadan meal that is taken in the middle of the night, between Midnight and 3am, or so. (He lives in Brooklyn, I think.) The meal is called "suhur" (awoken) because many folks go to bed after the fast-breaking meal, taken after sundown, and must be "wakened" (as'har) in order to eat again while it is still nighttime. Because as soon as the sun goes up, fasting begins again.

Evocation in Ruins of Abandoned Temples - The Rovingian Evocation
Performing an animistic attunement meditation in a ruined space or in nature serves to establish a relationship of respect, reciprocity, and communication with the non-human agency of the place. The main objective is not to extract energy or impose human will, but to attune one's own consciousness to the frequency of the elements present. There is also an initial inner Rovingian evocation of presentation and permission to enter to demonstrate respect; this, like all Rovingian evocations and prayers, is personal and varies from monk to monk.
The Animistic Perspective of Ruins
The collapse of structures and the encroachment of nature transform the meaning and spiritual experience of these sacred spaces through specific dynamics:
Non-Human Agency: The space ceases to respond only to the will of priests or devotees and begins to actively interact with the ecosystem.
Ecological Reclamation: Roots, lichens, trees, and shrubs are not only destroying the masonry but merging with the stone in a living process of healing and transforming the landscape.
Memory of Materials: Worked stones retain the echo of ancient human intentions, acting as receptacles of accumulated memories.
Spirits of the Place (Genius Loci): The original spiritual entity of the temple is freed from institutional dogmas, integrating and responding directly to the forces of the earth itself.
Evocation Practices in Abandoned Spaces
The ritualistic or meditative approach to a ruined temple from an animistic perspective focuses on listening and communion, abandoning the idea of spiritual domination or control:
Deep Listening: The first step of evocation is silence, allowing one to perceive the wind in the cracks, the play of light and shadows in the forms, textures, and silhouettes, the growth of vegetation, and the historical weight of the stone. The mist that crosses the place on foggy days. Birds or other animals that inhabit it.
Offerings of Reciprocity: Instead of egoic petitions, natural elements (water, seeds, flowers or dried leaves, sacred Rovingian pebbles or white sand) are left to nourish the ecosystem and demonstrate respect for the guardians of the place. In any case, always respect the cultures, adapting to local or regional rites and recommendations. The Rovingian monk adapts, with reverence, respect and humility, to the traditions and cultures with which he comes into contact and visits.
Interspecies Dialogue: Recognizing that the new inhabitants of the temple—such as mosses, birds or insects—are the current legitimate caretakers of the sacred space.
Communion and Darśan (1): Visual and tactile contact with the dilapidated walls or sculptures promotes a direct and immediate affective connection with the living sacredness of matter. In the case of relics or ancient paintings, we do not advise contact, but rather reverence, even for the structural and sacred protection of the spaces.
The Rovingian Anathra and Sandhara Evocations
There is also an initial Rovingian inner evocation of presentation and permission to enter to demonstrate respect - Anathra; this, like all Rovingian evocations and prayers, is personal and varies from monk to monk. There is an exit, and in the outer procession there is an evocation of gratitude, which is done by exiting backward in a position of reverence - Sandhara.
(1) Darśan or Darshan (from the Sanskrit darśana, meaning "vision" or "apparition") is the sacred act of contemplating and receiving the blessing of a deity, idol (murti), spiritual master, or sacred place in Indian religions.
In the case of Rovingian monks, the term is used in the act relating to the Genius Loci of the place or its spiritual guardian.

Escuta Profunda: O primeiro passo da evocação é o silêncio, permitindo perceber o vento nas frestas, o jogo da luz e das sombras nas formas, texturas e silhuetas, o crescimento da vegetação e o peso histórico da pedra. A bruma que atravessa o lugar em dias de nevoeiro. Os pássaros ou outros animais que a habitam.
Oferendas de Reciprocidade: Em vez de petições egoicas, são deixados elementos naturais (água, sementes, flores ou folhas secas, seixos sagrados rovingianos ou areia branca) para alimentar o ecossistema e demonstrar respeito aos guardiões do local. Em todo o caso, respeitar sempre as culturas, adaptando aos ritos e recomendações locais ou regionais. O Monge rovingiano adapta-se, com reverencia, respeito e humildade às tradições e culturas com que contacta e visita.
Diálogo Interespécies: Reconhecer que os novos habitantes do templo—como musgos, aves ou insetos—são os atuais zeladores legítimos do espaço sagrado.
Comunhão e Darśan (1): O contacto visual e tátil com as paredes ou esculturas degradadas promove uma ligação afetiva direta e imediata com a sacralidade viva da matéria. No caso de antigas relíquias ou pinturas não aconselhamos o contacto, mas uma reverência, até pela proteção estrutural e sagrada dos espaços.

While the majority were fitted with 567C engine and had six traction motors, the first 11 , of which GM2 was one, had only 4 traction motors, a 567B power plant and A1A-A1A bogie configuration.
GM2 is preserved at the National Railway Museum in Adelaide.

Well, since I've owned a camera anyway! Okay so it was miles away and using the wrong lens but ...
Taking Pup for her off-leash run today, I noticed a 'lump of earth' on a harrowed field ... and it moved slightly ... it had ears! Nor was it in the least interested in Pup, who equally ignored the static hare!
I took about a dozen shots, and am hoping to put together a sort of flic-show; meanwhile, here's a taster!
The hare is one of the fastest of all the smaller animals, being able to move at speeds of around 45mph.
The strong hind legs of the hare, combined with their large feet give the hare the ability to run so quickly. The hare is also able to jump over large distances with great ease.
Originally owned by the 12th century Arab Viceroy of the island, the manor and gardens of Alfabia have kept much of their Moorish character. A mix of 15th, 17th and 19th century features, the layout today contains both a canal with criss-crossing jets of water as well as formal baroque and later romantic landscape garden additions on the slopes of the Sierra de Tramuntana in Mallorca.
I gave them their own shelf with a background & some tatami mats. I have more on pre order, so the shelf will be filling up, but in the meantime I have these 5. I have my Star Wars Nendoroids on a different shelf.
