The track down to Cobbold Gorge at night. Unusual star trails are revealed in this near-equatorial view.

Mission accomplished - finally got to see the ageing GMs on the ARTC rail train - a long drive though for a handful of shots (1000km round trip).

Genesee & Wyoming Australia's GM37/GM43 on 8M42 work train are dropping rail lengths near the 220km post between Wirrappa & McLeay in South Australia on 3 July 2017.

After almost 18 months sitting out in the open on the storage roads at Dry Creek (Adelaide), these two 50-year old locos were fired up again in November 2016 for use on this rail train contract.

Pour les aborigènes, ces trous ont tous leur signification.

Along the Landsborough Hwy, on the way to Longreach.

Travelling through the Queensland outback – the flat, dry land of the Australian savannah (it’s said to make up 23% of Australia’s land area!) – it was particular interesting to observe the shrublands ecoregion of central and northern Australia.

Some might call it boring country, but it’s here that you can see iconic Australian plants such as gidgee, coolabah, brigalow, myall and, of course, Mitchell grass. They survive and thrive in some of Australia’s harshest regions.

Time permitting, I’ll show some of them and more here on Flickr

Flickr

If you look closely, you can find both Uluru and Kata Tjuta in these photos of the Australian Outback. What a fascinating Landscape, like an open geology book.

Auf diesen Fotos des Australischen Outbacks kann man sowohl Uluru als auch Kata Tjuta entdecken. Was für eine faszinierende Landschaft, wie eine offenes Geologiebuch.

A properly good Subaru Outback basking in the golden glow of the Puget Sound. With a bit of a custom lift, lights and wheels; I wish it was mine.

Before we headed off to the Broken Heel street parade we took some photos on our campsite. A good job, as it's the only chance you'll get to see the hat I originally intended to wear. As pretty as it was, it was rather prone to wafting away in the breeze, so I abandoned it in favour of something that wedged onto my head more firmly.

I don't break out Tiger Force Outback nearly enough. Arguably the coolest international G.I.Joe release.

What's your favorite figure, released outside the U.S.?

Water in the outback brings life.

This image has been captured at Bowra near Cunnamulla in the outback of Queensland.

In this area near Cunnamulla the vegetation is sparse and the land is arid and not very productive.

Cunnamulla is around 787Km west from Queensland's capital Brisbane.

Many thanks to all my Flickr photostream followers I have now more than one million views, thank you. Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it is very much appreciated.
