Atop the only rise for 500 miles I prepared to get a few Outback sunset shots. Then, as though from nowhere, a car appeared, out sprang the occupants who rushed into my foreground to get their point and shoot shots. Every adversity is an opportunity, this photo bombing was mine.

A spectacular sunset on the western plains of New South Wales and the only three for miles to break the hosizon.

Sunset on the endless flat plains of outback South Australia. This shot taken at Coober Pedy, a town 846 Km north of Adelaide on the Stuart Highway. The town is sometimes referred to as the "opal capital of the world" because of the quantity of precious opals that are mined there. Coober Pedy is renowned for its below-ground residences, called "dugouts", where most of the population live due to the scorching daytime temperatures.

Painting the backside of buildings where nothing pretentious happens, just civic decency.

My travelling companion, a visitor from Chile, took this shot through the windscreen when we came up behind a truck somewhere in outback South Australia. Of course, he had his eye on the map of Australia on the back of the trailer, and the Kangaroo warning sign

Sometimes in life you have to take the road less traveled. An outback highway, far western New South Wales, Australia.
