Kata Tjuta

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

Northern Territory, Australia

I took this photo on the way back from Abercrombie caves during Autumn... The road was a little bit rugged as you can see, but there was hardly anyone out and about...

I would love to revisit this area in the future... So much awesome countryside to see!

Même les vieux éboulis conservent la rondeur du lieu.

Never saw another vehicle or person for the three days but there was no shortage of flies that kept us company. The park was originally a cattle station of 507,000 hectares. Driving around in a 4WD through red dunes, gibber stone plains, Mitchell grass plains, waterways that flood from heavy rains up north, old ruins, etc. was excellent.

You are probably a bit bored with seeing this church but I found another angle @ early sunset!

You never know what you will run across in the Australian Outback. This old boot saw its better days, but, if you knew the story of the old boot, you might be amazed.

Our week in the outback will remain with me for life we rarely had clouds and when we passed these amazing trees had to stop rugged scorched earth with dead trees that had just collapsed in the heat of the sun.

Outback re-imagined as a 1983 figure. I'm not quite sure what made me think of this, but I'm pretty happy with the end result as he fits in nicely with my display of 1983 Joes.

The torso is from a Black Major arctic Steel Brigade, the arms and weapon are from the original 1987 Outback, and the legs are Duke legs painted to match the Outback color scheme (including the brown knife on his left boot).

The head is from Rock and Roll with the beard painted orange and a headband and additional hair sculpted from putty. I didn't feel the figure would be reminiscent of Outback without them.

While visiting New Norcia, north of Perth, behind the monastery we discovered a small outback stream which has turned into almost a river after recent rains. I am always fascinated by movement of water in nature and the water swirling around small stone pylons caught my attention immediately. Fast moving clouds also added to the mood that I had in mind.

Tips for survivalists: Wearing white t-shirts do not better your chances, even if you write "SURVIVAL" across them.

Outback is definitely a favorite figure of mine. I've seen collectors complain about the white shirt, but I think the very basic look of it suits this Chuck Norris- inspired character.

The camo trooper is a Black Major custom.

The pioneer builders of the Appealinna community were probably delighted to find that the easiest available building materials all around them were these regular, flat stones. Perfect for dry-walls. If the one in your hand didn't quite fit; drop it and find another.
