A beautiful moon, just 1 day off full, in a beautiful landscape. Bush camping in the middle of no where, 200k out from Norseman in WA. 146.6 kilometres without turning the wheel a bit, and this savannah on both sides nearly all the way! Still I found the Nullarbor crossing to be a great experience, and one I will be doing again one day soon :)

Genesee & Wyoming Australia's GM37/GM43 are in the processing of running around their work train at the crossing loop at Wirrappa on the Trans Australia Railway, just after sunrise on the morning of 3 July 2017.
After almost 18 months sitting out in the open on the storage roads at Dry Creek (Adelaide), these two 50-year old locos were fired up again in November 2016 for use on this rail train contract.

Most people are intimidated by wilderness — the complete absence of the hand of man. Not Outback. He believes in being part of his environment, not its adversary!

The Stockman's Hall of Fame museum in Longreach Queensland records the history of the massive movements of cattle and sheep in the early days of Australia. The most obvious exhibits feature the Royal Flying Doctor Service including this aircraft. The service has saved thousands of lives of outback dwellers and those just passing through such as stockmen and stockwomen.

Port Augusta is a seaport and railway junction city on the east coast of the Eyre Peninsula in the state of South Australia. It's at the head of the Spencer Gulf, 322 Km (200 miles) north of Adelaide, the state capital. Port Augusta is the gateway to the Outback for people travelling to the north or the west.
I was out this morning catching the sunrise before a storm front moved in behind me. Turned around to pack up and head home and caught this great little rainbow as a bonus.

I saw this example of Outback "drollness" in Silverton, NSW. It made me wonder about the state of the designated driver :)
Lake Eyre is Australia's largest lake although it's usually dry. But a few times each century, floodwaters from the Lake Eyre catchment and Cooper basin flow into the lake. I was lucky enough to fly over it and watch the water levels rise!
