An old shot from 2018 from a trip from Sydney to Perth and back. This was from our roadside camp just out of Esperance W.A.
GWA001,GWU003 on 1901 empty ore to Rankin Dam wait in the crossing loop at Burando on 19-9-21.
The Rankin Dam consists are roughly 400m shorter than the ones that ran to Wirrida and only 2 locos instead if 3.
Something a bit different, for a change. If setting your camera on self-timer and taking a photo of your back is a selfie, then I guess this counts as a selfie. This is a vast salt lake a mate & I just had to take a drive on back in May on the road between Tibooburra and Broken Hill, within a 100k's or so of the Packsaddle Roadhouse. It felt like the right place to pull up a pew and have a cold beer and enjoy the incredible emptiness.
I couldn't believe the incredible quiet, like no world existed outside this vast empty isolation, only crusty salt and blue sky. And the occasional stubby of beer being opened. Other worlds is the term that comes to mind. I love the NSW outback!
We took similar pics with the chairs in lots of the places we visited, just a bit of fun 😀

Not quite as wild as in Down Under, but disturbing enough in civilised Hertfordshire. It actually is the policy of the National Trust, owner of these woods, to keep them as natural as possible which is a difficult task as the woods are open to the public. So, you watch out for branches that are about to fall or have already broken off the tree. Photographically speaking, this is wunderbar. Leica M Mono, Voigtlander CS 2.2/50.
A fading vision of the Australian outback as solar pumping takes over as a more reliable source of water, galvanised simplex Windmills hold an iconic status in Australian culture pushing the frontier of settlement outwards into areas with no running surface water. Initially imported from the USA and the UK, Australian made windmills first appeared on the market from the 1870s with the development of the Intercolonial Boring Company who manufactured the first Simplex windmill. The white discoloration is a result of the salty bore water as the groundwater from overgrazed lands is becoming increasingly saline.

Yancowinna Creek, a typical bed load channel, only recently activated by substantial but short-lived flood flows. Large sand banks, deep dry pools and some more abandoned concrete blocks are testament to the power of these desert streams. Yanco Glen north of Broken Hill, northwest NSW.

This image was taken west of St George, Queensland where there is nearly zero light pollution. It was so dark when I was shooting out there I could see the starlight reflecting off my car. And so quiet I could hear my ears ringing! very spooky but very awe-inspiring!
Tiger Force!
Outback is the only tiger force classified series character I've picked up. I did want Recondo and Bazooka, but the few I saw in store had really poor quality control.
I'm cool with that though, as I see this figure as being a novelty repaint anyway of a favorite character. Plus, these days I doubt I'll ever get to own the original o-ring version.

The Outback is the vast, remote, arid area of Australia. The term "the outback" is generally used to refer to locations that are comparatively more remote than those areas named "the bush" which, colloquially, can refer to any lands outside the main urban areas.
A grasshopper from Griffith NSW. According to iNaturalist, it’s a slender Gum Leaf Grasshopper, Goniaea vocans. I was out early in the morning and as I was walking through the grass, this guy sprung into view.
