Details
The goal of this series of images was to seek interesting photos from a non-optimal location (too far away, partially obscured view) using sub-optimal equipment (a slow camera with a dim lens). The fastest aperture, lowest useful ISO and low shutter speed were used to maximize color information in the RAW file.
This group concentrates on the reflections seen in the windows behind the performers. The perspective is lower than what was seen directly and gives a different view of the drumming style and stance. Early evening outside light was bright, allowing the background to show through the image. Later, the outside was lit either by moonlight or dim artificial lighting (with a blue cast) and did not disappear completely. Reflections are apparent from the interior and exterior panes of glass.
Technical details
Photographed in available light. Raw files were generally exposed for foreground elements, rendering the reflections 2-3 stops underexposed. Aggressive processing (Adobe Lightroom) involved increasing exposure 3-5 stops, adjusting highlights and shadows, then using the 'curves' tool to darken the black edge of the spectrum. Desaturating blue reduced the distracting effect of night-time exterior lighting. Aggressive noise reduction (Lightroom, Noiseware) was necessary.

Utata's weekend project is "Cold" (12th-25th Jan 2019)
The bottom of the sock was rotated to the top of the foot, emphasizing the holes. I got the color balance wrong due to mixed indoor/outdoor lighting. I liked it this way the most, even though the nail looks horribly brown (instead of pink).

This is likely a species of Trichia or Hemitrichia. From this angle one can observe the white stalks anchoring the fruiting body to the substrate.

History
In the early 19th century the Wetherill lead mine in Shannonville, PA (later renamed Audubon in honor of a famous former resident) provided lead for the production of paint. By the 1840s additional copper mining efforts opened a total of nine shafts including the New Perkiomen Mine, Whim Shaft, and the Ecton Mine. These veins were so promising that copper miners were imported from Cornwall, England to support the effort. Production diminished during the following decade culminating in the failure of the enterprise before the Civil War. All that remains above ground are scattered foundations, the smokestack from a facility that pumped water out of the mines, and a curious set of rails over the mine run stream.

Used a Hoya R72 filter and found my perturbed sense of contrast made for generally out of focus images. Of course, couldn't tell until I returned home...

This week's Thursday walk had to happen on Wednesday here, when it was Thursday in Japan, and during a snowstorm. The darkest object was recent tread marks on a moderately trafficked road. Gold print toning gave a nicely cool tone to the winter scene.

I saw this gentleman waiting for a bus, took a photo, then started to notice other things. The pile of gloves left by someone else seemed oddly out of place until a different, fidgety fellow with greasy, oil-stained hands like a mechanic stopped by. "Hey, look at my shoes - they're just like new from a box at the Salvation Army!" He initially seemed a solid working class exemplar. Very quickly that image disintegrated with the confession that his hands were covered with resin from cleaning his pipe. In the span of ten minutes he neither begged nor proselytized as he confessed his descent from normal high school to homelessness on the pharmaceutical express. There was no lower place to fall to: choosing to sell plasma, or get thrown in the drunk tank, or a half way house with no drugs, or sleep on the lawn by the diner were competing options for the days ahead. But he'd stay dry during the rain in the bus-stop shelter, and find the cheapest 'eats' at the dollar store across the street. Then he shuffled on, "Gotta get some socks to go with these shoes..."
Large fluffy snowflakes gently fell this evening. Slow shutter speed made them more pronounced, as though driven by a storm.
Following my trip to Aix en Provence last month (February 2010). Have made a series of charcoal/ink and gouache studies after a number of Cezanne's paintings. I have not paid note of the colour of these works, which would be a study in itself, rather I've concentrated on the dynamic surfaces and forms. at present I'm working on a series of landscape paintings and hope to incorporate some of these ideas into my own work.
This is my first oil copy after Cezanne.
Throughout my life I have made copies after paintings and find they are a great way to stimulate one's own imaginative life and creativity. Once recorded in a digital way further work is also possible.
The Masonic temple in Atchison, KS was open for viewing one day in July. The main chamber has several stained glass windows and free standing Masonic themed pieces. The windows are not visible from outside nor are they lighted naturally due to protective exterior metal blinds, installed to protect them from breaking in high wind. This stained glass window was back lit with incandescent lights and front lit with fluorescent.

What a variety of columns! This was shot on 120 film, using an old Voigtlander Bessa-II. The details that appear upon enlargement double the pleasure of shooting film. The original appears here:

I was photographing for black & white with a red 1 filter over the lens, intentional overexposure, and slow shutter speed. I captured the approach of the bus in several successive frames then assembled them as one might assemble a Harris Shutter Effect image. The static elements remain black and white, but the parts that move are colored.

Technical Trivia
Three sequential images were corrected for distortion (Olympus Master 2) and registered (PictureWindow Pro) before combining as the red, green, and blue channels of a composite image.

Sometimes you can't get there directly. If you focus on the wizard you might not consider that you can't roll a one (Monopoly uses two die) and have to circumnavigate the board.
This composition is an adventitious candidate for Iron Photographer 200. I was not thinking of the challenge when taking this series of photos, but this one is well suited to the theme. It contains elements that:
1 - signify where you live
2 - signify what you do
3 - signify what you want
I live in a village rich with children. I raise one of them. I want to see these hands change the world someday.
These children are playing with a mixture of starch and water, dubbed "oobleck", that behaves as a non-Newtonian fluid.
The great room on the second floor of the Muchnic house is empty of (most) furniture, seeming purposeless except for play.
About Project Toy:
On a busy holiday trip I kept a small number of toys in pocket, hoping for opportunity to improvise something in or around Atchison's old houses.
Moving camera and moving subjects made extreme parallax. A passing truck removed details in one color layer across the center of the frame. Nonetheless, I registered background details as well as possible and made Harris Shutter Effect composition. One weak color was enhanced by blending with BW of the third image, for pseudo bleach bypass effect.

The Rock-o-plane allows riders to lock their cages in position, turning upside down as the wheel rotates, or rock them back and forth until they spin end over end. Amelia Earhart Festival. July, 2011.
Technical trivia
Stereo realist loaded with Fuji Superia 400. A light leak (opened back) destroyed the color in one image, leaving one color and one partially monochrome (red) image. The damage did not completely cover the frame, thus the left edge became dark when tone matching the remainder of the image with the second frame.

I have a box of D&D lead figures in the attic. They seemed concerned about people and wildlife carrying viruses, so have become vegetarian for the pandemic.

1. A subject which is almost entirely one primary colour (mind flayer)
2. A background which is almost entirely one primary colour
3. Scary mood (imminent conflict - over salad?)
Analog EFX was used to give a 1960's tokusatsu TV vibe.
This is an "almost" because the pigment primaries are RYB, seeming specified by the task, but the additive light colors of RGB were used.
We passed this building several times, always curious about what lay inside. We made a special trip just look. The publicly accessible card catalog is a sight in itself:

The morning walk was crisp and cold, making newly started vehicles seem to pass on a cloud of steam. But try as I might, none of those images worked. Then I tried exposing for the shadows, allowing the highlights to blow out, and my surroundings became more interesting.
The Tamagawa University Taiko drum and dance corps performed for Sakura Sunday 2012 at Fairmount park in Philadelphia, PA. There was a sizable crowd, and almost every image showed the milling crowd. In some images people off stage draw attention almost as effectively as the performers.

Correct lens distortion (Olympus Master) then use Noise Ninja to clean up images.
(note: this is in addition to blurry automatic noise reduction)
Black level enhancement
- Generate a copy
- Use 'curves' tool to set bottom 10% of colors to black (HSV color space, Picture Window Pro)
- Composite with original using soft light transformation at 50% opacity (note: order matters).
Observation
This approach also modifies colors in a pleasing (to me) way. Interestingly, photos not available for public viewing are given much higher 'interestingness' rank than comparable public ones with hundreds of views.

The remains of the mansion, destroyed by fire 4 decades ago, slowly crumble away behind a protective fence. The structure lost a chimney in recent years and that crushed a porch when it fell. That wreckage has recently been cleared but it is unclear whether any stabilization will be undertaken.
Graffiti sticker: Warsteiner? Nein Danke
The statement seems to criticize Warsteiner beer but the graphic makes clear it is for the band Nein Danke, who describe their music as acid punk:

Technical Trivia
Three frames taken hand-held were registered before abstracting red, green, and blue channels from sequential images. These were recombined to generate this image. Color enhancement involved several steps outlined in (Harris shutter effect) Grizzly Classic hurdler.

I stumbled upon the 5K run moments before it began and couldn't choose a better vantage. This Harris shutter effect image shows the pack moments after the start, following a serpentine path up a short hill.

A fungus, possibly Hericium coralloides, being overrun by a bright yellow slime mold, possibly Physarium polycephalum.
How to make it: Two images taken with the cha-cha method (moving camera) were aligned and the gif was generated in stereophotomaker.

The approaches are heavily shrouded in bush and trees. The rails continue into the weeds unheeded. Oddly, it is the adjacent roadway that seems anachronistic.

I've driven past Aughwick Mills many times without considering anything might be there. I never realized that much of the railroad seen along route 522 is disused EBT track. Keller's guide indicates one of the earliest extant reinforced concrete bridges is there, dating to 1914. Some note it may be the first:
